Oh yeah, I got a lot of them:

Rape threads - Because while I agree it's a horrible crime, we don't need a thread about it every goddamn week!
Pedophilia - Again, horrible crime, but there's nothing I can really say about it that isn't fucking obvious.
Transgender threads - Because I don't care.
Homosexuality threads - Because I don't care.
Racism threads - Unless I can create enough of a response to link this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbud8rLejLM ), I don't care
Feminism threads - Because I don't care.
Anita Sarlacc-Pit - Because I don't care.
Sexism threads - Because I don't care
Political threads- Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines and brudda', Politicians are cunts.
Religion threads - I couldn't give less of a shit.
Gun threads - Living in the UK where the majority of guns are held by farmers and farmers mums, I don't care.
My Little Pony - Fuck off.
Someone/Somewhere does something horrible - The world's a shit-tip, what else is new?
American problems - Not my country, don't expect me to care.
Global Warming - Fuck it. If it kills us, it kills us.
Mass Effect endings - YES WE FUCKING GET IT!
EA/Game Publishers - Yes, they're pricks but if they release a game I'm interested in, I'm going to buy it.
The Last of Us - While I haven't played it, because it's still really fucking expensive, this game really can't be the second coming of christ.
Dark Souls - Unless it gives me opportunity to rant about the game itself, I don't care.
EternalNothingness - I read them, sometimes, but that's all

And chances are there are a lot more thread-subjects that I'm missing.

I've got to thank you Templar, this thread really helped me get a lot out of my system!

Where I will back away:

Feminism - Threads pertaining to this subject are fill with the same people blathering on, trying to win some imaginary victim complex contest and the winner getting the most pity. And it's also filled with people dissociating themselves from the title, but instead calling themselves "egalitarian", "equalist" (hello, this isn't the Legend of Korra) or "humanist".

Dating - I can't and should not advise which I've never experienced.

Rape/Sexual assault - In a nutshell: both sexes are capable of doing it, but men get significantly harsher punishments for rape/sexual assault while women get little to nothing for equivalent crimes. People with outdated morals say/believe males can't be raped/assaulted, as they seem to "ask for it", no matter the age of consent (or lack of). The sides repeat their arguments ad infinitum until the moderators close the damned thread.

Sex/Cheating - Last time I said something in one of these threads (I think it had something to do with letting a friend or their SO know the other is cheating) I got a warning or two because some people were offended I called them and their actions reprehensible and disgusting while hoping their choices will return to haunt them someday.

Politics/Religion - I refuse to touch that board altogether.

And most other threads with more than a single page. By page 2, all opinions about aforementioned topic have been said and the album of opinions has been set to "shuffle", but only 2-4 tracks (opinions or posters) keep cropping up.

These days, pretty much every thread I see is one of these "I'm staying out of it" types. It seems rare to find a new bit of content that's a break from the endless, boring "sexism/guns/anime/console x/dev y" thread rotations. Hell, that's why my post count is so low, despite the length of time I've been here. Think I only broke 2k a few months ago.

I generally feel that way about most threads these days. More often that not it's just people shouting at each other or into an echo chamber. Hardly makes for riveting conversation. That's not to say that there isn't a thread every now and then that'll pique my interest, it's just that they're few and far between.

Even the Zero Punctuation threads aren't safe from people shoving their issues in everyones face anymore.

I stay out of a great deal of threads; some because I simply have nothing to add, and others because I just don't want to get near the shouting match.

I will, however, read pretty much any thread on the off-chance that a reasonable argument will be presented (and also because I'm bored), and this is something I often find myself regretting.

I try and stay away from treads that I know will just end in a flame war but sometimes I can't help myself.

Although when I don't intermingle I do read some of the opinions people throw around because it works wonders for my own self esteem. Humans never fail to be amusing.

Oh, and I especially like the "Am I the only person who hates x" or the "why do *insert minority here* need their own *insert event here*?" threads.

EDIT: And I just found a tread called "Is MLP: FiM feminist propaganda?".

I'm fucking done now...

This is really off topic but where did you get that avatar? The kitty with the tie is really cute and its one of my favorite colors. :)

Like everything these days I found it on the internet. I think I did a Bing image search for "cat bowtie."

I'm glad you liked the avatar. I went for the kindest, warmest, most non-threatening avatar I could think of. In these dark days it seems we must do our best to protect the feelings of others even if that means the loss of our own personal right to self expression. So I'm just trying to do my part.
I thought it might have been a personal image. You shouldn't worry about other peoples feelings. Thin skinned people shouldn't be on the internet. My avatar is from a somewhat obscure game i played a long time ago.

anyways cute kitty. :)

You can probably tell by my low post count in relation to how long I've had an account that I stay out of a lot of discussions, mostly due to my wonderful ability of writing an entire paragraph that manages to say exactly the opposite of what I'm trying to say.

This is going to be a given, but I tend to stay away from topics I disagree with but can't support my own side with any evidence aside from personal bias or if the thread has all ready turned into a flame war.
Anything else if fair game to me.

You know, with all of these people saying that they stay away from sexism/gender/feminism threads, who the fuck is posting in them until they're 20 pages long?

Anything about feminism, I'll most likely stay out of.

Also, anything about gun control.

And I try to avoid any thread discussing manga, since they might include some criticism of some manga that I like.
Why can't I stop mentally reading your posts in a noir like voice?

OT: I stay generally out of the usual stuff: feminism (includes Anita Blahbleesian), transgenderism, Mass Effect 3 ending threads, "this offends me boo-freakety-hoo" threads, "-insert something outlandishly shocking here-" threads... There are more of course, but I can't remember specifics.

From what I've seen it's usually the same 3 or 4 people in an endless stream of quotes, yelling at eachother.

Hah, you know. There is a user group on this site devoted to standing back and watching the flames. I try to stay the hell away from even remotely controversial topics. Especially anything regarding gender, feminism, sexism, transgender, etc. It's not worth posting. I'll look, but that's it. It's usually the same old tired arguments and ideas from the same people repeating endlessly. It is amusing when an official thread goes to hell though.
You've got my interest in this user group, would you mind linking it to me?

Basically everything. I'm too cranky to say anything nice, and I'm too tired to argue with internet people.

Anything to do with LGBT issues. I'm big on openness and equality, and despise flame wars and homophobia. Sooner or later in those threads, you have to deal with both.

I also stay away from feminism. I'm a guy, and while I do support feminism, I think that some feminists take their views too far and into straight up misandry. I don't want to be hated and marginalized just because I'm a guy.

EDIT: And I even less want to hear some male chucklehead make me ashamed of my half of the species.
