I'm fine with people quoting stuff, but I hate it when the quoter doesn't give any context first. For this instance, giving context qualifies as relevance the current topic or preemptively saying that they are about to quote something, i.e. Oh yeah, remember "blah" from X?

Just saying this based on experience with another student who usually quotes internet videos at random, and at that, ones I haven't seen.

Your quote may be a jem, but if I don't get it, you'll get my "What???" face.
Don't take it personally, just give some explanation/context.

Yep, mostly stuff quoted from online stuff... And South Park.

But luckily, we're currently 5 guys and a girl in my class (full time drawing class) and all the guys are into all that internet and gaming shit.

The girl in our class doens't get half teh shit we're talking about though, she even declared that one of the guys in on the "girls team" now, cause she think it's unfair that she's the only chick in our class.

This happens to me all the time. But I go to high school so it's really not that surprising. Most of my friends don't understand a lot of my vocabulary either, so it's a lose lose

Yes, and it doesn't help much either when you're a bit of a film geek. Mind you I tend to avoid using things from TV, movies and games, mainly because there is ALWAYS going to be some cheesehead who says "Oh that's from that episode" or "Oh that's from that movie".

yeah, I'm shocked how often my friend can't get them. Last one was playing against him online and saying "I'm not gonna hurt you, Im just going to bash your brains in, I'm gonna bash them right the fuck in." and he even interupted me so I got to say you didn't let me finish. But alas, wasted.

Everything I say has the underlying line, derived from pulp fiction books or things I've read on and offline.

I used to have a friend who didn't have the internet, so every time I said anything from there I was met with weird looks and having to explain myself.

Now he has it every other sentence from him is something like: "Boom. Headshot." and he doesn't even play TF2, just watches the "Meet the..." things

Its amazing the effect the internet can have in such a short amount of time.

A movie, sometimes. More often it's either Avatar: The Last Airbender or a video game. It's actually kind of entertaining to say "The cake is a lie" to someone who has no idea what you're talking about. They get really confused.

True, but I run into SO many people who haven't seen it. It's scary.
How is that possible? How can there still be people who have never seen The Big Lebowski? Isn't that a crime yet?
I have not. Nor have I seen the Godfather.

Ha, I love that quote OP. When I first saw the episode I rolled on the floor in laughter.

I quote Futurama all the time, Especially bender's irony quote
