Someone's eventually going to figure out that competitive gaming is thoroughly dull and boring to watch because games were meant to be played. Sports have feats of athleticism that can clearly be seen, while something like an FPS or RTS just flat-out doesn't work because the public can't get behind nerdy shut-ins clicking mouse buttons.

Like any sport it depends on each match. Some basketball games are really boring, and some are simply spectacular. Video Gaming is the same way.

I don't really see any problem - it's actually pretty cool how they seem to make the games "real" (playing real guitar, driving real cars). And I mean, it's better than watching a damn baseball game or something, right?

If I had actually eaten anything recently, I might've lost my lunch watching this trailer. It's hard to watch that and not be at least slightly insulted by what they're pulling.

What are your feelings on this? Do you think it'll potentially be a positive thing? Or do you believe to be yet another gaming debacle?

I've watched it until now. Next episode is the finale.

It is Real World with DDR and Rock Band thrown in. Token black dude. Petty alliances. Woman cries during every episode.

These people are not gamers, and should not shame America by attempting to compete. Whoever "wins" the reality show will be slaughtered at the tournaments.

Here's my complaint: the constant zoom-ins and zoom-outs and fade-ins and fade-outs and odd angles and swooping shots and tracking shots and other "ZOMG YOU GUYS THIS SHIT IS AWESOME" camera stuff made my head hurt. Now I kind of want to find the guy who edited that and beat him to death with his own legs.

Reality TV is a big box of failure. This is reality TV about gamers (maybe, some of them look too pretty to be gamers). Gamers are not interesting to the majority of people so I'm not sure how they will sell this show. I can only assume that they will use drama and ""real"" (one set of hyphens just isn't enough) conflict. This is shaping up to be a failure in a category made of pure failure. Just do a search for Daigo's parry vid. Gaming can be competitive however this show doesn't seem to capture that. It just seems lame.
