Firstly, your poll is so biased I can't even choose a single option.

I enjoyed A Serbian Film. I thought it was really well done and it kept me engaged.

I say you give it a fair go. If you can't handle some of the content, then stop watching it. Totally fine, people have their limits.

Wait, what? So they filmed a child rape scene? Really???
No...it's worse...
sorry, but WHAT IN THE BLUE FUCK IS WORSE?
It involves a newborn infant.
they actually FILMED THAT SCENE?
in all seriousness i want to blow all their fucking heads off.
It was a fake baby, obviously. And they didn't show anything explicit. This is the most infamous scene in the entire film, yet it isn't nearly as bad as you might imagine it to be.

It also happens to be very short, as the protagonist is disgusted by the footage and leaves.

O.K. just reading about what's in the film is making me cringe, which is a feat within itself considering most horror films can't make me cringe if I watch them in the dark all by myself. Not entirely sure if I want to see it...

It's supposed to be horrific; it symbolises the conditions in Serbia after the war, so of course it's made to elicit a reaction.

Slight spoiler warning for the really nit-picky. (Never bothered learning how to insert a proper warning).
My movie buff friend who saw it says the child porn stuff just happens off-screen. That was really the only part that sounded actually bad to me. Although he also told me the movie "tries way too hard to be over the top, but it's pretty laughable and not disturbing at all, just dumb."
I trust what he says about movies.

Do the violent actions in this movie have a point? I can forgive a movie for making me want to rip out my eyeballs as long as it wasn't for naught, and the point being something else than "LOOK WHAT HUMANS CAN DOOO, BE AFRAID." If I have to watch the scenes I'd like to be able to think about them later from a standpoint other than wanting to erase them from my mind.

Shock value has been around for a long time in film, like Un Chien Andalou also known as "that one movie with the sliced eyeball", Apocalypse Now, and Salo, but the hard to watch scenes in those movies did go somewhere.

It's sad to me that so many people would just read the OP and honestly never look up the facts that all of the shots are fake. Technology, camera angles, and stunt doubles are a trick that people use in cinema. Even the police from their country asked them and they provided all the details and evidence that it was all fake.

But of course, everyone just loves to "the OP said what?! Horrible!" unfortunately. Never will people actually research things anymore. It's a good habit to get into when provided with a controversial subject to make better informed decisions.

I read the plot synopsis, and I don't have much motivation to see it. It just sounds meaningless and repetitive ("And then... he stuck a bit of himself into an EVEN LESS MORALLY ACCEPTABLE PLACE").

Is anyone else reminded of Russ Pitts in his Doomsday Arcade cameo by that aggressive-looking fellow on the box art?

I have no desire to see this film. I've heard about it, initial reaction: What? Really? They did that? Man I gotta watch this. After about 5 seconds of thought. No. I really dont. And I forgot about it.

Why subject myself to unnecessary suffering? Suffering in a movie should occur for a reason, it should not be the reason.

I don't think I'd ever watch this movie. I don't have much of a problem with horror movies but from what I've heard, this movie isn't the kind of horror movie I like. I haven't seen it so I can't really judge it but I don't really have the desire to find out. There are movies which are supposed to shock you but for me there are limits and this one seems to step way over the line.
But what's really disturbing for me, is that there are probably even worse movies out there, which make this one look like "scary movie" in comparison.

4Chan has destroyed my brain so much, that I think of seeing this movie as a "challenge." That being said, I will in no way ever see this movie, ever.

I'm only wondering one thing as I read through all this;

Did someone actually ACTUALLY have sex with a dead body for the production of this movie?

Ok first thing that popped into my mind is Whatever floats your boat.

Second thing that popped into my head is who is this movies made for anyway. What is this movie's target audience. I just can't imagine the type of person watching this movie and putting it on his top 5 list.

But like I said before whatever floats your boat

I think an important thing to remember throughout all of this, and this is something I've found time and again - if it can be conceived, it has been done.

That is the true horror of this film. That somewhere, someplace, someone has done everything that you're seeing there. That's the disgusting part.

That said I found the film to be intentionally shocking; so much so that I simply was numbed, much like the main character is drugged throughout.

A far more powerful film, I think, is something like the French film Betty Blue. It is a gut-wrenchingly horrible story, and you can see the ending coming, but it's like a car wreck. You just can't turn away.

That and the main chick is a fox!

Im actually from the country this movie came from and the people there think the movie is horrifying but they can actually stomach it unlike others.Besides that movie is an actually horror movie the movies here in america are rarely scary.BTW that video with the marines reaction is bs because real marines who have seen action usually see worse than that movie.Oh and if you people want to see something really twisted visit Rotten.com :)

I've seen the uncut version of this movie and it's honestly not that bad. The acting is solid and there's a pretty good plot twist at the end.
