Any game that you loved to death that either; A) No one else knew existed, or B) Simply wasn't covered in mainstream media.

I cast my vote automatically for Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom. How someone took Spongebob, just ol' Spongebob, a fairly funny kid's show but just Spongebob, and turned into a balls out awesome action-adventure (I think?) game.

The premise was ingenious and simple. Plankton makes robots to take over Krusty Krab, unfortunately created, and left lever turned to "Don't Obey", and they start running rampant. Spongebob and Patrick wanted real robots to play with, so they put a toy one in Pat's conch and made a wish. The next day, Spongebob thinks it's all his fault, so he goes out with a bubble wand and some help from the people around him to collect golden spatulas, for no thoroughly explained reason, to unlock more levels to finally get into the Chum Bucket and save the day.

The game is awesome, and more often than not, pretty damn funny. The game mechanics are too awesome. Anyone else love this game? I gush over it, it's fan-fuckin'-tastic.

Your turn.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Fantastic game for the original xbox. Unique aesthetic, great third person shooter gameplay, and the end was a cliffhanger for a sequel that was NEVER RELEASED.

Star Ocea- no, that's a JRPG...
Disgae- no, that's an SRPG...

Ugh, I guess Shadow of the Colossus isn't exactly mainstream.

Frontlines: Fuel of War.

It was a solid game, the multiplayer was fun, and despite suffering from some faulty vehicle controls, it was pretty damn good.

I could probably list some SNES titles; I used to find Shaq-Fu damn awesome - A beat'em'up starring Shaquille O'Neal
Also the NHLPA Hockey '93 also for the SNES.

No idea if these were popular titles... well I sincerely doubt Shaq-Fu was popular.

I don't really know what should be classified as "mainstream", but if we're talking "who knows about it"... I'd say Crysis, I loved it to bits (4 play throughs in one week), and when I started talking about it within a small group of friends, a few acquaintance asked "Why I play games no one has ever heard of". I almost facepalmed, though I guess the closest they ever got to gaming was a Call of Duty on a console... Crysis probably never even reached that market...

There's a man who buys and destroyes Shaq-Fu games because he hates them so much.
OT: Great Greed for the gameboy, Now that was a strange game.

The hamtaro games:
Ham-Hams Unite
Ham-Ham Heartbreak
Rainbow Rescue

Sure they're childish, but they're so much fun. Its kinda like the old point and click adventures, but instead of random items to collect, you collect "ham-chat" words. So that guy over there might not move until you learn the word for please (bad example but is been a while since I played).

Plus you get to Go-P on things.

That's a pretty fun fact to be honest. Also I am sure nostalgia has twisted my view on the games of yore, and I was a kid and kids are stupid.

Otogi: Myth of Demons.
It's the wonderfully beautiful hack n' slash game set in feudal Japan where the main focus was on the amazing art design and really great music and general themes of philosophy and spirituality.
The gameplay was pretty fun too, not complex but still fun.
Frankly, it was a treat and yet despite being popular enough for a sequel it fell off the charts shortly after and never to be heard from again. Honestly I don't have any issue with the people who liked God of War or Devil May Cry or even Ninja Gaiden I just feel that Otogi should have had a place there too.

Dun dun OKAMI!

Seriously, with all the amazing reviews and awards it recieved, it should be one of the most mainstream games out there, along with Shadow of the Colossus.

For the 1000th time the Myth series. It's still better in terms of gameplay, sound, music, story and in some ways graphics than most strategy games these days. It never comes up in top 100 PC games or whatever lists despite it being on of the best that I don't even think its just my opinion. It's not like it wasn't praised on release...
