The Blitzkrieg series, which are WW2 RTS games that discard all unit training, base building and resource collecting, instead favouring how good you are at actually leading your troops into battle. If nothing else the irony of it being produced by a German company should have got it some attention.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Fantastic game for the original xbox. Unique aesthetic, great third person shooter gameplay, and the end was a cliffhanger for a sequel that was NEVER RELEASED.
I LOVE THAT GAME! but wheres the love for kingdom hearts?

I loved Sponge-Bob BfBB!

My vote is for LittleBigPlanet, everyone who owns a PS3 should have it, it should be a system seller, but from what I've seen it's actually overshadowed by things like God of War 3, Uncharted, MAG...

Monster hunter is hardly known in the west though it dominates Japan, and it is hardly a Japanese game. The fact that there was zero advertising for it made it so nobody knew about it but I can see it being huge all over the world.

Well this is going to sound like me beating a dead horse, but I'm going to have to go with everything in the Shin Megami Tensei series. Awesome JRPGs, realistic characters, mature and complicated themes and stories, actual moral choice systems (as in 4-6 endings), and a massive library of demons.

It's a shame that they are only really known in hardcore JRPG circles...

The Harvest Moon series. It seems most gamers have heard of it, but it's far from being mainstream. I mean come on, Farmville became mainstream almost instantly and that's just a stinkin' browser game! People, there's been an entire franchise based around the same idea for over a decade, and it's much better in about every way. Not to mention much much much much deeper.

I... I don't believe it. A thread about OBSCURE GAMES on THE ESCAPIST and nobody has mentioned Psychonauts? Perhaps people have finally escaped the delusion that Psychonauts is an obscure title and finally realized that it's incredibly popular and well-loved. One can only hope.

I've got plenty, but if I had to pick just one? We Cheer 2.

No no. Seriously. I picked up the original We Cheer practically on a dare and it ended up being one of the best games on Wii and one of the few that uses the Wiimote well (there's alot of smoke and mirrors involved but hey! It WORKS!). However that thing, believe it or not, had a STEEP learning curve that made ALOT of people think it just didn't work. Me? I 100%ed the thing.

We Cheer 2 though? WOW. They went ALL OUT on that sequel. Totally redid everything, added TONS of customization, new modes, ect. Best of all they added a new Easy mode, and lowered the difficulty on Normal mode...and then kicked UP the difficulty on Hard! So crazed We Cheer veterans like myself still have a rock solid challenge!

As for how it plays? Well...it's kinda like Elite Beat Agents except for Wii and with motion controls. You hold one Wiimote in each hand (yes, two Wiimotes. Nunchuck cord is too short. You can play with one Wiimote too though), arrows appear on screen indicating the kind of motion you need to do and you do it, essentially dancing along with the cheerleaders in the background. Each song has it's own unique choreography and there are no canned motions.

Some videos:
All Goth Squad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KISNiPKFb3M
Elite Beat Divas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0NSbBMsYf8
(Yeah, the character customization is kinda awesome)

My crappy video reviews of them:
Samba de Amigo vs We Cheer 1: http://blip.tv/file/2819538
We Cheer 1 vs The World: http://blip.tv/file/2819616
We Cheer 2: http://blip.tv/file/2928350

*ahem* Yeah. Sorry. Long post. Just...I think saying "We Cheer is one of the best things on Wii" demands some explanation, don't you? XD

idk why but this one ps2 Japan game called RAG (Robot Alchemist Drive) I think thats what its called.

its where your character used this controller that looked just like a p2s controller and it controlled a huuuge robot that would protect the city from other big robots. The controls where hard, but it was so much fun, you would slowly get to your opponent and then throw a right hook and smash the other robot in the face sending him through building sand crap. It was amazing.

lol I cant remember the plot of the story or anything I just remember it being awesome.

Harvest Moon is ridiculously addictive. Up until you get married... then it's not so interesting when you're just hording cash. Tree of Tranquility got around that nicely with the Goddess Quest, though.

Yes indeed, where is the love? I preferred KHII for the additional game mechanics - like the drive gauges that I abuse constantly - but the gummi flights became THAT much more interesting. It is my favourite game, especially for the storyline. KH 358/2 Days wasn't bad either.

Demon Stone for the PS2. It had such a great story and pretty graphics... yeah the combat was a nightmare but it was so very, very easy to look past that. Especially with all the fantastic voice acting. Patrick Stewart and Michael Clark Duncan in the same video game? Pure win.

I think beyond good and evil didnt get as much attention as it deserved but hopefully the sequel will fix that, and i definitely think mount and blade needs a lot more attention.

Time Splitters. Fantastic game, great sense of humor, interesting plot, and in the third one, a fabulous mapmaker (even better that some PC ones. I'm looking at you Hammer you unintuative son of a *****.).

It was great.
