Space Rangers 2 reboot!!! awesome game! with lots of quests, lots of classes and races pirate/merc/ranger/merchant etc, a very good economic system, and lots of Dominators! the music is great too, and the maps are very nicely rendered! the good thing is that even a pentium 4 can run it...

Any game that you loved to death that either; A) No one else knew existed, or B) Simply wasn't covered in mainstream media.

I cast my vote automatically for Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom. How someone took Spongebob, just ol' Spongebob, a fairly funny kid's show but just Spongebob, and turned into a balls out awesome action-adventure (I think?) game.

The premise was ingenious and simple. Plankton makes robots to take over Krusty Krab, unfortunately created, and left lever turned to "Don't Obey", and they start running rampant. Spongebob and Patrick wanted real robots to play with, so they put a toy one in Pat's conch and made a wish. The next day, Spongebob thinks it's all his fault, so he goes out with a bubble wand and some help from the people around him to collect golden spatulas, for no thoroughly explained reason, to unlock more levels to finally get into the Chum Bucket and save the day.

The game is awesome, and more often than not, pretty damn funny. The game mechanics are too awesome. Anyone else love this game? I gush over it, it's fan-fuckin'-tastic.

Your turn.
I agree with you 100% I fuckin loved that game!

I say this a lot on the forum, but Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
Everyone KNOWS the game, but very few people actually played it; they just know it involves someone yelling "OBJECTION!" in court. I'll just say there's many reasons it's famous.

The Guy Game. I'm totally surprised it wasn't the best selling game ever.....

But seriously.
Starsiege Tribes just died somewhere and got left in the dust. Same thing with the X-wing, TIE Fighter, X-wing vs TIE fighter series.

I'm going to third (or fourth or whatever if I miscounted) Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. It had an interesting premise, great gameplay, great multiplayer, controls that work well, and was HILARIOUS. However, most of the gamers I knew thought it was cartoony and for children...Ah, it's so unfortunate that such a great product was cast into the shadows...

The Real-Time Strategy/First-Person Shooter Hybrid genre.

In terms of games, I would say Demon's Souls.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Fantastic game for the original xbox. Unique aesthetic, great third person shooter gameplay, and the end was a cliffhanger for a sequel that was NEVER RELEASED.
Fuck... I remember that game. I still have it, such a good story, great characters, dark, but hilarious humour and great gameplay. Fun multiplayer too. They really need to make the seqel to that game.
My vote goes out to Tokobots on the psp or the remake on the PS2 (tokobots plus). That game was so much fun, I can't believe everyone I've spoken to has never heard of it.

Blazblue
Demons souls
So, you would most likely be a fan of Cross edge too then? Considering you're into soul crushingly difficult games (Demon's Souls, Blazblue, and I'm assuming Guilty Gear also?)

Medal Of Honor: Airborne. Only 73(including myself) play online in the whole world!
I played the single player campaign. It really wasn't all that much to write home about. So many glitches and issues on pc. I heard it was better on ps3. I got the game for $10 and still sort of felt ripped off. It was shorter than Modern Warfare 2. only like 7 maps and the difficulty curve was bullshit.

Star Ocea- no, that's a JRPG...
Disgae- no, that's an SRPG...

Ugh, I guess Shadow of the Colossus isn't exactly mainstream.
It most definitely is. Any game that achieves Greatest Hit status is pretty much mainstream.

Metal Fatigue. You could build armies of custom robots. How the hell am I the only one who knows this exists?

I agree with UT3. Now, going back to nostalgia, Turok: Rage Wars on the n64. It's basically UT, except you pick your own weapons, including an inflater gun. Also, there are a lot of unlockable characters, including a pile of bugs that shoot acid. It's fun to play with a bunch of people.

/nostalgia

Also, Silent Hill 4 deserves more recognition than it has. It's extremely underrated. Personal fan of Quake 4 too.

The Punisher on Ps2, i finished that game at least 5 times and i loved it because of its brutality and excitement. could either charge into a building tactically with flashbangs and a silenced P90, or blow everyone away with a grenade launcher or dual weilding M60s, mean how can dual weilding M60 machine guns not be fun.

Wave Race: Blue Storm on the Gamecube. Its predecessor, Wave Race 64, was and still is recognized as a classic, so it kind of boggles my mind that the sequel didn't get the attention it deserved.

Improved wave physics, interesting and dynamic characters, fantastic music, and water graphics that, in my opinion, still haven't been completely topped. It was a fantastic game. Truly is a shame that there weren't enough people playing it to warrant another sequel. A Wii version of Wave Race is probably one of the only games I'd actually enjoy playing with motion control.
