Minions....
Bleeyuk. Monstrous creatures. Vile things. Foul daemon seed.

We must continue our eternal war with the spawn of Chaos, my brothers. Let your hate guide your aim as we deliver His righteous justice upon the xenos.

I hate to break it to you, OP, but Minions have nothing to do with Dreamworks. They're from Illumination Entertainment, creators of the lovely, if not very faithful, The Lorax film.

Even if one thinks it did suck, it had a great credits song.

Illumination are owned by Universal. They also did the CG work for Hop, which is an underrated film, IMO.
A lot of the music in the Lorax film is pretty good, even better though was the stuff they cut... which is ironic because had they just used the OG music the film might of been good.

They're...grating.

Annoying facebook memes and rampant over-saturation aside, they're not really much of a bother to me personally. I just don't get the appeal, due to the aforementioned grating annoyingness, but I just assumed that was because I'm old and cranky.

It's hard being in your late twenties, I tell ya.

God, how I wish I could be filled with so little anger that obnoxious advertising for low grade child distractions could be a "trigger" of mine.

I'm to busy hating people's taste in music, people's sense of humor, partisan media, and advertising in general.

It's not worth being angered by the herds of obnoxious sheep glomming on to a fad, It will eventually subside.

Now all I can think of is how gross banana flavored tic tacs must taste.
Sadly, they aren't banana flavored. I bought some hoping they would be; instead they are some sort of weird tropical fruit flavor that tastes like a reject from the flavor labs.

At least this means we'll be seeing more banana twinkies. I love those things. (I love the minions, too; please don't hold it against me.)

The only "good" thing about the Minions is that they can make other people funnier than the Minions themselves...

Other than that, I am indifferent to the Minions themselves... Then again, I'm more of a fan of Pharrell, alongside Spongebob, overall...

I have no real issue with minions, infact I would even go as far as to say I quite like them but then I've not been over exposed to them, in fact their 'exposure' has been limited to times that I've been around my niece or nephew, on the other hand these characters

I can happily hate on how overexposed these guys are, they literally are EVERYWHERE advertising some of the most questionable products related to what they are, Sky broadband? toothbrushes / toothpaste? Really? If I have to look at one more advert that ends with that yellow smiling moron... well rage!
They're doing Subway as well, right? I really hope they don't go overboard with it because it's a really great movie and I don't want to end up resenting it.

I thought the fart guns in supermarkets were funny at first. I laughed at the little Twinkie men and their excited strings of probable Esperanto. Weeks later, I could barely stand the little f**kers. I should have seen it coming; it's like the "Arrow In The Knee" meme all over again. It was everywhere, and all too much. :(
I used to like the Minions...then I took an arrow in the knee...

I mean these fucking quotes are bad enough but what the hell do they have to do with Minions?!
.....yeah, I wanna slap the person who came up with that and double-slap them for sticking a minion with it for no flippin' reason.

I'm with you.

I cannot explain my hatred for the things, they must just offend something integral to my very being.

...Or I may just be as susceptible as most people to hating popular things that I don't immediately take to. The first explanation sounds more interesting, though.

I used to think they were cute when the first film came out. Then they started appearing everywhere. EVERYWHERE. I haven't even watched the second film, in all honesty all the hype and minions everywhere has put me right off. Can't even watch the first anymore. I just can't stand the things now. And my good god, those facebook minion quotes just grind my gears. BAH HUMBUG!

Though, I did enjoy seeing the picture of the couple that had a minion themed wedding. The dresses were gorgeous. Yellow needs more appreciation, just not like this.

That Rachnera Avatar with your custom title ... you hold very good taste I must say.

.. .. Oh, yeah to stay on topic- I think the reason they're so popular is because the older audience likes their charm. They may seem annoying because us younger folk observe things, but the adults have taken to like their slap-stick comedy as a sign of fresh air rather then them being those "cartoon characters that talk about moral messages 24 / 7 in a cheesy fashion" .... think of them as the updated Loony Toons the adults grew up with. Please note the Minions are by no means close to be as likable, talented, or anything that the Loony Toons possessed but even a slim reminder can get people attached to these . .. yellow beings.
Well, she is my boo.

Quite literally, since spiders are my anti-drug/life/completely sane aversion to house fires. But that's mostly because I lived around Brown Recluses for most of my childhood and saw a lot of what they could do to (Necrosis Is Magic!) flesh.

Rachnera though? She's awesome and, overall, quite gentle. So-

Leg-Man Mode: Activated.

Ahem. Minion-wise, yeah, I get what you're saying by that and they do have a certain sense of 'innocence' to 'em, mixed with more quirky behavior of previous cartoon iterations. I grew up watching a lot of Looney Toons and stuff on Cartoon Network/Boom, so I can sorta see it...if I strain really hard and cock my head to the side like an inquisitive Cocker Spaniel.

I actually don't care either way about them. Though yeah, they ARE just cheap knock-offs of the Servbots.[/img]
Not to mention the Rabbids.
I always see the Minions as annoying versions of the Aliens from Toy Story.

On a related note: Thank God the Rabbids are gone. Rayman should be the star of his series, not the horrible creatures that overtook him (before Origins that is).

I'm not quite as "extreme" in my disdain for them but I'm definitely with you, Despicable Me I though was a decent little family comedy, and I didn't mind the minions but lately people's obsession with them really has turned them sour, and I roll my eyes every time I see a new "minions" themed piece of merchandise

I once thought the despicable me movies where rather nice, compared to some other things in childrens entertaiment (and a nice relief since the surge of the superhero movies). But even back then I just though: Whats with these peanut / cheeto guys!?!

And even back then some tried to make a forced meme out of it. And even within the movies, the humor (for me) was kinda "Eh!? *shrug*".

Now that they ARE everywhere. It sucks sooo bad.

I just hope it fades out maybe within a year just like Tamagochis fadet away back then.
