I really cannot stand the show, here on the escapist. Top 5 with Lisa Foiles isn't particularly funny, informative, generally entertaining or insightful, so I really have no idea why it exists. That's not to say anything about anyone working in production with the series, but I cannot stand it. Erm... anyone else? If you do enjoy it, state why.

inb4 "people have opinions" junk. As I always say, "Opinion's can't be wrong but they can be stupid."
I dont find her humourous on most days, but I could see why others would like it. Its just something the Escapist put out to fill a Tuesday video space. Like The Big Picture took over for Game Dogs (and maybe ENN)

I don't like her voice. She's good looking and seems like an energetic nice person but when she's talking in that fast rapid got to do this under 4 minutes way her voices becomes irritating in my ears.
I've seen 3 of the videos and base my stuff on that, maybe I'll check an episode out sometime but not for a while.

The Escapist is a business, nothing more, nothing less. If they can generate more views by pandering to the horny teenage audience through adding a show with a female host with too much make-up and too much cleavage, they are going to do that.
The best advice I can offer is to simply not watch it, and ignore the rabid fanboys who note that her best (and only) defining feature is that "she's hot." Like it or not, Top 5 is here to stay, because The Escapist wills it.

lol i love how people say the "Then don't watch." I think it would be safe to assume OP doesn't watch it and is here to ask why people like it since he can seem to fathom such a thing lol. Of course i could be wrong.

I like it cause i want her. And some of the stuff she does amuses me.
Well, the show must obviously be bothering them, if they'd make a thread about it.

If one doesn't watch it, it shouldn't bother one.

I like top lists of things.
I like game related ... urm things.
I like sexy girls.

So a top 5 list video show about game type things hosted by a really fucking hot girl.

Formulae for epic win if you ask me.
Also, I've always been kind of bothered by the taste in women the majority seems to have (though I'm talking of a few examples, like Angelina Jolie, for example). And with Lisa Foiles too. I admit, she's cute, in a way, and maybe even a bit "sexy", but "really fucking hot girl"?

I'm not arguing your taste, just reporting my observation (in fact, the first sentence is probably more important).

The polite way is to say "I repsect your opinion, but I view it a different way, however I could see why you believe in your opinion."

And then you leave

I think it's got potential, but Lisa's delivery is way too forced. It's like watching Morgan Webb try to say something funny. She needs to work on her timing and emphasis, but otherwise, why not "Top 5:"? I mean, it's just as JinxyKatte said: people like top 5 lists, people on this site like game related content, and the major demographic on this site is most likely guys age 18 - 25; Lisa's resume fits the physical preferences.

If you don't like it, say why...someone in charge _might_ actually read this and take some suggestions to heart. But only if people make suggestions to begin with.

Okay. This thread was made why? No one is saying you have to watch it. You make a conscious decision every time you press that mouse button over her face.

People have different tastes. If everyone hated it, it would go away. Obviously a number of people here enjoy it. You don't see them making threads about how much they love the show, how they like the content, etc, etc...
You "then just ignore it" people, I swear. He obviously made the thread to find out why people find it entertaining. What the hell is wrong with that? Most of you should go on probation for pointless posts.

And thanks for stating the obvious, everyone knows everyone has different taste.

They're both dead now, so rejoice?

I watched a couple and no, she isn't funny. I could see teenage girls liking it, however.

Whether or not I agree with you, I hate it when people write things like the first two posters. What the hell is the point of a discussion forum if people didn't share opinions?
Because this opinion is entirely personal and did not carry any sort of relevance for anyone except for the poster.

I mean... what do you expect us to "discuss" about the subject?

"I don't like lisa"

"Well I do, so you're a doo-doo head!"

"Well you stink 'cause she sucks!"

...and so on. It's a useless subject.

I'm not crazy about it, either; I find the desperate scramble to find a believable holy-shit-guys-I-think-this-one-actually-plays-games "gamer grrrl" is just... well... it's a bit alienating, like having the rest of the world insist that actual gamers should never be in the spotlight and would be much better off if represented a chipper, attractive spokes-model, instead. I have nothing against the show, but I can't fully shake the feeling that superficiality is pervading one of my favorite fatguy-approved pastimes, and the old highschool hierarchy of aesthetics-are-king might install itself in my zone of comfort.

[asscover]THAT SAID, this thread is just plain unnecessary, as the new forum rules we all had to click past to continue using this site clearly stated railing against site content for no particular reason other than your own gratification is a no-no. There's a crew of competent-at-worst people making this show happen, and if you can't articulate exactly what it is about it that you don't like in a civil tongue, as opposed to saying "I hate it, it sucks", it's in your best interest to not say anything at all, lest you wander into a mod's killzone and get cut down by a screaming wall of lead.[/asscover]

EDIT: Just out of curiosity, anybody remember when someone made a hate thread against Forgotten Realms, and the creator showed up and went nuclear? If it wasn't so uncomfortable, I'd wish that sort of thing would happen more often.

I just went and watched the most recent episode - I'll admit, it's hard to shake the feeling that she's putting on a bit of a facade when she does the show (the whole stunned, ditsy girl thing), but on the whole, I have genuinely enjoyed every episode I've seen so far (which is all of them). Furthermore, this is speaking as somebody who doesn't find her all that attractive - I've just never been into blondes, and her "pose" is a bit annoying, but she can be funny at times, and the show is, if nothing else, an entertaining little distraction. And really - it's not as if the show is even trying to be anything more than that.

I don't like it but I can bare it. I don't like it because she frequently mentions two female characters which are Bayonetta and that girl with orange hair from some fighting game, which really gives off the vibe (to me at least) that she is at least a little sexist and bias with her choices. If those two contributing factors weren't involved I would...probably still not watch because I don't laugh at her comedy. I hope a lot of people do like the show and the girl gains a modest fan base.

PS: Anyone else noticed how a bunch of the people at the escapist who contribute videos and reviews with a smile on their face and a great attitude and personality gain at best, a meager fan base. While Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw from Zero Punctuation can just blatantly say whatever he wants and still have a hell of a lot of adoring fans and no ramifications? Sorry, it was a bit off topic but I wanted to mention it for peoples opinions.

I don't like annoying, high-pitched, awkward, pandering bottle-dyed blonds.
And seeing most of the people who like it, fall all over it because they hope
she'll find them and do something to them physically. Which is a dream.

Females like Lisa are a cause of extreme annoyance for me,
especially since I grew up around a lot of them. The fact that they
weren't like that all the time, and were a different person when guys
weren't around, only caused my annoyance in them to increase to the
point of pen-snapping frustration.

I feel like I am watching another youtube vloggity list about something that
is just blatant self-marketing - with the cover of video games, when it really
has nothing to do with them. And it irritates me that I thought I came to a
place that wasn't like that.

I'm not saying someone can't be beautiful and into videos games.
But there is a real fine line, for me, about it.

Being beautiful, classy, and actually talking about video game stuff that
people find interesting besides, "Weirdest Character Trinkets" would be great.

But all I see is useless lists, mass amounts of overacting, blatant
sexual self-marketing and I PERSONALLY consider that trashy.
[/ Personal opinion]

Then again, if you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all. *eye-twitch*.
What he said, without my trolling undertones.

By the way, what I mean by "Opinions can't be wrong but they can still be stupid," is like someone liking Transformers 2 more than Citizen Kane. I mean, yeah. It's not wrong in any particular sense, but... Hm. Maybe I should just phrase it better.

and for everyone else... I don't watch it. That's the point. With all the time and effort she's put in, I see a potential for something really great. I posted my thread mainly just to see what everyone's view on the subject matter is. That having been said, I was in a pretty rotten mood when I posted it and it's sometimes entertaining to see the hypocritical comments.

Yahtzee knows how to deliver a joke, the content is always relevant to the interest of the community (and, by the way, consistent. I dare not say unbiased, but it is at least consistent in its biases and doesn't follow anything that might get an extra feeble laugh), and he's charismatic. It's a recipe for people enjoying a short. Give Lisa the same content and it won't be as liked. There's a knack for these sorts of things that some people have, some people can develop, and some people do not have. Hopefully Lisa can develop it.

There's a problem with the idea of simply having the actual gamers in the spotlight though, and I really hate to say it, but as of today it's still true in general...Your typical gamer has less camera presence (in all areas: delivery, gesturing, physique, jokes/gags, etc) even than Lisa does. Until a larger number of gamers are able to be knowledgeable about games _and_ be in-front of a camera without locking up like a rusty gear, we're going to see writers writing for "gamer-babes" who can't do the material justice.

PS: Anyone know if Lisa writes her own material?
