Tim Burton films. They're not clever, they're not emotionally charged, and they're certainly not artistically groundbreaking. They're just childrens' stories for emotionally immature people that want to dress up their childish thoughts as deep and thoughtful emotions. I re-watched The Nightmare Before Christmas not too recently, and there's no real content there. It's a childrens' movie, nothing more, and the people that wear Burton's merchandise should be taken every bit as seriously as grown man wearing a Little Mermaid shirt.

Wait. I guess I do get it.

Heroes I enjoyed at first, it's gone downhill... remains to be seen whether it can pull itself back up to being good again in the next season. I think I was mostly watching for the Sylar stuff towards the end - he's a great character...
This. The only really enjoyable parts in the latest season were the ones Sylar was in. The expanded his character wonderfully but somehow forgot about the rest of the cast...

As for things I don't get, The Catherine Tate Show goes in at the top of my list. It's exactly the same thing over and over again when it was barely funny in the first place. Then again I guess most comedy sketch shows are like that.

The In-Betweeners and the Mighty Boosh.

Both of them are shit, and I have come to the conclusion that the reason they are so popular is that half the country have about three brain cells between them.
The Mighty Boosh have their moments though, but otherwise I understand where you're coming from.

I dunno, everything my friends have introduced to me I have enjoyed.

Except for Fred. I want to grasp his high-pitched oesophagus a and rip it out of his neck.

And this show. I'm all over comedy and humor, but not when it comes to good old Tim and Eric.

You can blame Attack of the Show for that. IIRC, he's the first "internet celebrity" that was featured in their "Who's Who on Youtube?" segment only to be Epic Failed a few months later.

F***ng every reality show. No, really. I can't stand the way voyeurism is trying to become normal and "healthy" behaviour.

To refrain from repeating what's already been stated (which I agree for most cases):
Yes, Dear is... the show has terrible plots. And they *don't resolve the problem*. I watched 12 episodes over 2 weeks, and I would just get frustrated at how stupid the characters are and the story never coming full circle.

And Full House. I'm sorry, but Michelle makes me want to get up and throw my chair/couch at people. She's a ****.

I never really got the whole "emo" movement. Why do I need to listen to music that tells me how much life sucks when I can just turn on the news? Music is my escape from all that, I don't need it to be sounding off the same way the news does. The only other one would be reality television, never did understand the appeal of it.
this.
i wish they'd do the world a favour just go off and kill themselves instead of whining about doing it and never following through.

and remember kiddies its down the street and not across the road

I wouldn't say that I don't get it.

Why is some terrible or mediocre stuff so popular?
That easy, most people are just idiots.
Every person is being an idiot at some time or another. (Myself included)

I do understand but that doesn't help much to soothe my ire or remove my feelings of disgust.
For me this stuff is boring, annoying or frustrating.

Reality TV and almost all TV in general is just terrible or mediocre.
American Idol, Survivor, CSI, Two and a Half Men, most programs on FOX just to list a few.

I don't and have never cared about celebrities.
I suppose you could call that something I never grasped the reason for it's appeal.

My list of bad movies pretty much includes most things with Will Smith in them,
most horror movies, movies with Keanu Reeves, all the Spiderman movies (most superhero movies),
Transformers, most Star Trek Movies (I liked the 4th one), movies with Ben Stiller or Owen Wilson.

I wish people would stop making and/ or buying so many sequel and prequel movies.

Any band I used to like but then releases a new song that makes me RAGE! I'm looking at you Guns and Roses. Everyone else just seems to eat the shit right up.

South Park. I don't understand any of it. What's it's appeal?

The Catherine Tate Show. I chuckled at one joke. And it wasn't even her line. Plus her stupid "Not bovvered" line. I want to punch her once for every time she's ever said that.

Popular books in general. They just go straight over my head. The ones that don't get hated.

Twilight. People could have let me ignore it, but then one of my friends show me a devArt page with drawings of the characters. They looked so awesome and I wanted to know more. Then it ruins every vampire novel of the last FOREVER by making them sparkle and being invulnerable to everything. Not cool. How anyone likes it is a wonder to me.

Shows about angsty teenagers in schools, having stupid problems that no real teenager ever faces.

Any talent shows. Britain's Got Talent especially. PAUL POTTS, that stupid opera singer is the best talent in Britain!? Are they kidding me?

Dragon's Den.

Cooking shows.

Gardening shows.

Home improvement shows.

People who want to go on Jeremy Kyle-esque talk shows.

Medical Drama shows.

Horror movies like Saw. They're just glorified snuff films! Why watch them if you'll spend half the time hiding behind someone and the other half willing yourself not to throw up?

Firefly. How many episodes did it have? Because it wasn't nearly enough to get the fanbase it has now.

The new Star Trek film. Why? Did they just want to make it more "Kirk and Spock"-ier than the last 56?

People who don't understand that the bird is the word.

Adverts for makeup and hair products. They just seem to add bits to words and make up fake sciency words to confuse the public.

...That is all. I'm sure I'll think of more soon.

EDIT: And that stupid comedian! He was in "The Office" and everything he said was so drab and dull I seem to have repressed his name from my mind.

There are plenty of things a lot of people like that I don't like, but I wouldn't expect to. In fact, more than half of popular, mainstream culture strikes me as dull. But that's to be expected; it's more interesting to think about things you probably should to like, but don't.

In games, I knew I'd like Galactic Civilisations II. It has everything I liked: turn-based controls, empire building, science fiction, a technology tree, space opera and so on. It's the spiritual sequel to Master of Orion, which is enough right there. It's also universally praised, both by critics I respect and by friends. But for some reason, it didn't interest me.

I've had the same experience with a few games. Metal Gear Solid: a stealth combat game with a complex narrative and cinema aesthetics, brilliant! But I found it as dull as dishwater. Final Fantasy: an epic RPG set in a detailed world with strong characters and a sci-fi/fantasy combination, great! Oh, wait, it's terribly boring. God of War: kicking ass and taking names, hell yeah! Uhh, button-pressing marathon along the world's biggest corridor.

So many people love all of the above games that I should, by reason, have liked them as well. I don't know why I didn't. (Well, except in the case of MGS, which was a game that wanted to be a film but still only had a game-quality plot, and didn't care how many hours of non-interactive drivel it made you sit through for each few precious minutes of gameplay.)

Scrubs, Napoleon Dynamite, (someone please kill this fucker) Tim and Eric awesome show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force. (God I hate that fucking show) The list never ends.

Edit: Wait! I got more. Saw series, Hostel series. Any sick torture porn series.
All crime shows and all court shows. I pretty much hate everything trendy. I've always been different though. I like shows with intelligence that don't involve mindless torture and pointless killing and suing and unfunny bullshit.

Stupid people like stupid stuff?

Also, for sanity's sake don't bring emos into this conversation. EVERYTHING about the 'movement' is wrong. Aside from the fact that the ideas they don't really have are wrong, the people who think those ideas are cool are wrong and all the while nobody nowadays even knows what 'emo' actually means. The 'emo movement' would be something equal to me taking a random haircut, making rock songs and claiming it to be 'reggae'.

Coldplay, The office, The Catherine Tate show...there is actually a huge list but my mind has gone blank. Probably blocked it all out for the sake of my sanity.
I hate the Catherine Tate show. It's about as unfunny as unfunny gets. I don't know why BBC airs that garbage, they should have MOAR TOP GEAR....and Gordon Ramsey.
