*sigh*
The old "You need a $1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.99 PC to play games," argument again. PC costs; £700 lasts 5-7 years without having to replace parts unless they breakdown, (Say I have a ram leak) if I need more space to store stuff; £40 investment, 2 minutes work, I now have 5 Terrabytes of HDD space. Instead of paying £70+ for 250gig.
I'm also a graphic designer, so my rig needs a fairly powerful graphics card (work in resolutions approaching the 10,000x50,000 limit without one, I dare you) and it just so happens I like to game. What a happy coincidence this is, I can work and play on my same machine, which if used for either would cost the same anyway.
Then there is the "Yeah, but I don't like Keyboard and Mouse controls," That's coo' I bought a Game Pad for £20 just for TPS and even for FPS on my laptop when I need to wait for a client to show up at the pub.
"You need to upgrade it every year." No you don't, if you make the right investments and do a little research a solid PC... INCLUDING monitor, speakers and everything would set you back about £700 - £800... say the cost of a console and a new TV which most cycle out every decade or so anyway. In fact between the extra £10 - £20 on games and online service subscriptions, it actually works out in 7-8 years you spend more on a console then on a PC.
"It's hard to build your own..." No it isn't, everything is colour coded and labelled and if its not meant to go somewhere it won't fit in place, hell with most modern PC cases, they support tool free design.
Now I'm not gonna lie; Drivers can be a ***** to organise, but they are worth it. The only real reason to pick console gaming over PC is convenience. I'm not saying either are better, but come on console folks, at least educate yourselves before you start spouting off this nonsense.
Personally I own a PC and a Wii, as it allows the best variety of games to play for me.
