The other day I realized that I feel old.

Why, you ask?

Well, it turns that a fantastic album made by a fantastic band was made 9 years ago.

System of a Down - Toxicity - 2001.

What makes you feel old today?
wooow system
wooow toki wartooth!

now that I got that out.

I'm 15, I only feel old when I play my bass like an old man
(that means with passion and love for the instrument)

I was reminiscing about Nickelodeon's programming lineup throughout the 90's with a friend the other night. We ended up watching episodes of Rugrats on YouTube. Somewhere between "Touchdown Tommy" and bashing the channel's current lineup, we realized we'd become those old people who sit on porches and ***** about how crappy the world is compared to the way it used to be.

It was sobering. I want to be seven years old again.

When I ask people for I.D at work, and someone produces a passport that says "1995" for a 15-rated game... I just think, "holy crap, someone born in the mid-Nineties is FIFTEEN."

Watching (and being obsessed with) The Crystal Maze. That started TWENTY YEARS AGO. Twenty. That's absolutely insane. I'm only 21, and feel so old when I think about this stuff.

I was alive when record players were dying out. Cripes. Tape recorders were the new thing.

Hearing my younger brother screaming insults in the next room that I don't get what they mean. (how is being called a screamed at a scrub by a pre-pubescent little asshole insulting?)

Also remembering when MTV showed music videos & Beavis and Butthead.

I'm a year older than the Original Macintosh (Apple's second computer) which is featured in a museum in Japan. MUSEUM.

All the video games, american comic books, & anime I remember most fondly are from the 80s & 90s. When I talk to noobs or fans younger than myself, they're clueless about the titles because they're only into the baby-fresh shit. They know nothing about dated consoles, emulators, or how f**king hard it was to get fansubs back in the day.

I am older than the internet.

Taking more and more interest in whats happening in the world, politics wise especially. Also I think something is wrong with my left knee, since everytime I bend it, it makes a horrible cracking noise. Think Rice Krispies, only on a bigger scale. And sometimes I tend to ramble on about things that I'm not really that interested in but am too stubborn to just let it go. Oh and I am as deaf as a post.

EDIT : After reading some of the other posts, I have to agree with most of them. Like when cassette tapes were new and awesome. And how I sometimes have to explain why some of the older consoles are great. I had to explain this to someone who worked at a GAME store, that made me feel proper old.

I own a VCR, a walkman, and a large amount of Might Morphin' Power Rangers paraphernalia.

I feel extremely old when I remember this.

I was around when Kablam or however you spell it was on TV...OH I remember when people played with action figures instead of just video gaming
Man, I remember living & loving all that.
"Action League Now! Staring the Flesh; he's super strong and super naked. With Melt Man, who has the power to umm...melt!"

Now I feel older and more depressed. (I'm going to be 18 in about two weeks. Damn. Bringing up the fact that it means I can have all the sex & cigarettes I can legally have & ever want is depressing. The fact I'll probably never have either [too shy/bad people skills for the sex, too poor/crap ass health already for the cigarettes.] is even more depressing.)

You do know the internet is technically 40 right? Or do you mean you're older than the internet as we now know it (which started mid 90's.)?

Last year there was a news article about a kid who was given a walkman for a week. He didn't even know what it was or what it did or how to use it. And that nobody in his school knew either. I was a sad panda. A sad, old panda
Oh come on, a 6-year-old could work that out!
