My birthday is on Monday, and I'll be 24. So officially into mid-twenties, as 23 is kind of a grey area where you can choose to not have to face it just yet. Eeee....

I mean sure, that's still young comparatively, but still. You feel old when you recall that you've been legal drinking age for 5+ years, or when the first-years at school are '91-'92 kids and you can still remember what it was like being in kindergarten back then, vaguely.

The other day I realized that I feel old.

what made me feel old? not much, unless you count that during a particularly trying round of heavy machine gun toting jugernaughting campers in modern warfare 2 today i started yelling profanity at the screen and not only realised that i knew what all these words meant and meant them, but that n-one around me (my brother and my sister, the parents were out) felt the need to critisise me or even had a problem with it.

I was reminiscing about Nickelodeon's programming lineup throughout the 90's with a friend the other night. We ended up watching episodes of Rugrats on YouTube. Somewhere between "Touchdown Tommy" and bashing the channel's current lineup, we realized we'd become those old people who sit on porches and ***** about how crappy the world is compared to the way it used to be.

It was sobering. I want to be seven years old again.

I fondly remember the Pokemon anime from my (earlier) childhood (only the first season, naturally). The anime series is now at least 10 years old. How the hell did that happen?

I know that I am old since three quarters of my class had not seen Die Hard With a Vengeance when I showed a clip of it in class (we were discussing popular depictions of terrorism in the media).

And to everyone wailing because they are turning eighteen or whatever, that ain't old. Hell, I'm almost ten years older then that, and that still isn't all that old.
