I finally figured out why I refuse to watch... that one show. You know the one. The girly one.

Sir, I want you to copy/paste that into a word document, save it, and post it anytime one of these threads pops up. This should be the end to all anti-Brony threads right here.
I completely agree, well done.

Woah, woah, them be fightin words, boy!

Nah, I'm just kidding. I'm a Whovian, a Brony, a gamer, and a bunch of other nerdy labels that are put on me for no reason. Everything has fans, and there's always an annoying side to every fan-base, but I'll admit I do enjoy discussing the latest MLP episode with my friends or the folks over at ponychan. Sorry if that "offends" other people, but I get annoyed too when people talk about sports all day, and I don't let it get to me.

In summary, live and let live, stop the hating, all you need is love, peace out, et cetera et cetera.

That's really bad logic. Honestly it is, if you want to watch it then do. You're confusing the term Brony for idiot. Try not to get these things confused too often. If you post a topic about why Modern Warfare 3 isn't worth $60 then people are going to complain despite it...really not being worth $60.

In everything in life you will have your bronies and your idiots and you will often see people who are both but they aren't by truely the same thing, you will ALWAYS notice the idiots more because they yell louder to hide their own stupidity.

I like My Litty Pony, it's really cute and silly.

My main concern wasn't so much becoming a crazed pony-douche (I just noted it as possible), because while I have been known to gush about things I loved before, it's really only when someone chooses to open the floodgates. I like to make them regret it. >:p

No, my main concern was just being associated with the crazed pony-douches. Someone overhears that I watch the show, they instantly picture me as the small but VERY vocal minority of bronies that never shut up. I don't care at all if people dislike me until it becomes an inconvenience. So yea, I fear harassment, not because it will hurt my widdle feelings, but because it's annoying. I'd rather not have to "just ignore it;" I'd prefer to avoid it altogether. THAT was the point I was trying to make. If you still don't understand it, then I suppose we're just in completely different mindsets.

What I'll never understand is why teenage to young adult males try to act like a persecuted minority when someone makes fun of them for watching a tv show for pre-teen girls.
Because they're human beings. We human beings just love inventing reasons why our own little groups are the "victims" and everyone else is out to get us.

Anyway, OP, that's a dumb reason. Just watch the damn show if you want to, and don't if you don't. It's not that complicated. Don't let someone else's attitude dictate your own.

No, no I get it. (Or at least I think I get it ^_^ stupidity is always an option with me) and I know my point is a little off topic but I'm just trying to say it's just a bit of a pity to let the masses decide what to like or dislike. If it's not My Little Pony it'll be the next thing that you choose to openly be a fan of and you'll wind up with the exact same problem. We both could and probably are leaning on the floodgates as we speak and have no idea.

"Ah man, Cassandra's shield stun is kind of lame." Seems like a simple enough choice of comments but suddenly the idiots build up their rage and smite me until they have decided I'm a n00b, spammer, homosexual and probably a terrorist. Not exactly sure how but this is what happens when idiots become fans. What really shows character in the big yelling contest called the internet, isn't so much what your argument is, it's when people call you "A damn n00b browny trolling terrorist" and you choose to buck heads like the rest of the idiots or let it roll off. ^_^

So... you refuse to watch it because some of the fans are jerks?

Wow, you must not watch or play anything if that's enough to make you flat-out refuse to give something a chance.

I really dont get why guys like this show. Its not like some kid's programs where theres plenty of double meanings and innuendo to make it amusing for adults to watch, its just a straight up honest show for little girls. The animation work is ace though.

In fact the only thing MLP related that I actually like and enjoy watching would be:

That's quite elaborate. My 'I don't want to be perceived as pedophile-nerd hybrid' pales in comparison.

That may have been a bit offensive. But seriously, there's a wealth of excellent writing and animation out there. Why do you people insist on watching the one which would get you beaten up if adults had a little less self-restraint?

Actually, I can accept that. Boats need to float. To each his own. We're all different.

But why be vocal about watching a show for little girls? Is it masochism? Some kind of outgrowth of the whole victim complex? I don't brag about stuff that I do that could be considered embarrassing by normal people.

Hear hear!

As they always say, life is a tapestry made up of different tastes and interests. Ive never understood why people rage over things that are well within their control. CoD rage, dont buy it. MLP rage, dont watch it. Yet when it comes to something they like, they never shut up about it.

A little bit of self control wouldnt go amiss sometimes.

I enjoy My Little Pony... but the crazy fans bug me. Well, crazy fans of anything bug me, for that matter.

QUIT RUINING FOR THE REST OF US AND LET ME ENJOY MY KID'S SHOW, YA JACKWAGONS!

...Sorry.

EDIT: Geez, no idea the post preceding mine was so...lengthy and clashed so badly with mine. I'm sorry - bad timing. ^_^

Sorry you feel that way, OP. I get where you're coming from though.

Me, I watch the show, and I do like it. I was originally against it 'til I watched the first two episodes out of curiosity, and it won me over. And yeah, sometimes I'm worried that making any kind of MLP reference, even when it'd actually be appropriate, would immediately draw throngs of people screaming "BRONY!! Run, before it infects you!" Reading your post, however, has actually changed my mind.

I like a show. I think it's a little too young for me to get REALLY into, but I think it's pretty well-written and has generated a few genuine laughs from me, which is certainly more than most animated shows on TV do. I shouldn't be afraid to admit it because some people on the internet I don't even know are going to start taunting me and shunning me like we're all kids on a playground and I've got cooties, just because they confuse 'like' or 'appreciate' with 'obsess over like a drooling fanboy'.

So thanks to Jack the Potato for helping me see the error of my ways. And don't be afraid to try out the show because you don't like the idea of being associated with obsessive fanboys. It's definitely aimed at a younger audience, but it's still enjoyable overall. Besides, our geeky subculture could use more people who are openly moderate about things they like (and dislike, for that matter). :)

MLP has a much more "in the spotlight" fanbase. Yea, all shows and things have weird, annoying fans but, perhaps because this whole brony trend started on 4chan (the Mos Eisley of the internet), its annoying fans are much, MUCH more visible.

Anyway, I certainly never expected this many replies. I kind of figured this thread would die with only one or two "shut up about MLP" replies. I understand why some people think I'm being stupid, and some think I'm just being honest, but I'm a little confused by the couple of folks who seem to be almost offended by this topic. It's just a cartoon guys, nothing to get all athwack over. That's why I don't consider it to be worth the inconvenience of misconceptions.

Yep. It's a My Little Pony topic. Yep. I realize that by making this topic I am contributing to my own issue with there being too many pony
So there you have it. If you agree, then good for you. If you think I'm just making excuses and are giving into peer pressure, then I give you a hearty "Yea, maybe." Either way, I don't really care.
Sounds like you need to socialize less. At least with the offending parties.

It's just in the way that I personally view adulthood, and to a lesser extent, masculinity, that I would never use my free time to watch such a program. I don't care to persecute anyone who enjoys it, but I wouldn't let a "brony" babysit my kids, either.
