I was made fun of for hardly watching any Dragon Ball Z. I got little kids boasting that they've seen every episode. Times like those I've wanted to punt them like a football.

HA! Listen to this fag, can you believe he actually buys music? HA! (sarcasm)

Ignore the fucking intiteled little shits, they probably haven't worked a day in their lives to earn a god damn honest doller. Then again, most musicians who have a decent portion of their albums pirated aren't too bad off themselves. In fact, the only ones who suffer are the up and coming bands, the ones who cannot continue to create beeeeeeeeeaaaaauuuuuutiful music because a bunch of penny pinching assholes decided that their hard work wasen't legally in their budget.

I've been insulted for being named "James".

I quite like the name James, and even if I didn't, it still wasn't my choice to be named that.
James is a great name! If I had a top five names, James would be at least 3, after Han Solo and Pussy Galore.

Apparently, my casual glances at Naruto make me a retard. Just cuz I went to a convention with no costume but a headband and called myself a ninja doesn't make me a hipster, I was being ironic!

I get insulted for liking to read. What.

I also got shit cuz I said I value gameplay more than the story in a VIDEO GAME.
I will agree that story is a vital part of the game, but it's about how you PLAY the game (i.e. gameplay) and how much fun you have.

I got insulted all the time for not liking rap. My opinion dammit!

I've gotten insulted by a number of people for the past few days because I told someone I buy all my music...does that make any sense at all? Sorry that I support those that work their asses of to make it so you have the music you like to listen to.

For discussion value, have you ever been insulted for something utterly retarded?
Yeah, for the same thing as you actually. Or maybe it was just the fact that the way I buy my music is CDs rather than iTunes or other digital stores, but there were a lot of "why buy a CD when you can download it?" comments if I remember correctly (it was a while ago). They could have meant the CDs part or just buying it in general, not sure.

For the record, I like CDs because it's something in my hands that I actually own, and because if newer, improved formats come out I can easily get my music in that new format without having to buy new versions or get pirate copies of the new versions. Just toss the CD back into the PC and rip them off in the new sexiness. Did it for MP3 to M4A (or whatever the "normal" name for the format you get off iTunes is), and if it happens again, I can do it again.
It's also why this is one of the few xkcd comics I dislike. It is completely wrong for as long as CDs exist, and should tell people to buy those rather than pirate music: http://xkcd.com/488/

I've been insulted for...

1) Never touching drugs / alcohol / smoking nor willing to.

2) Typing out my responses in grammatically correct sentences when texting.

3) Expressing myself too deeply when it comes to a certain issue that's close to my heart.

4) Not expressing myself enough for a issue close to their hearts. (???)

5) Wearing professional style of clothing to school (JROTC uniform, sometimes suit, other times semi-formal wear, etc) just because I enjoy how I look and/or am required to dress that way for a class.

6) Liking video games and sports at the same time (they both appear to hate each other at times, especially the groups that it attracts)

7) Following the law (never been arrested/stolen/whatnot)

8) Waiting to have sex with someone that I at least care for extremely deeply / in a long-term commited relationship (still waiting, and I am pretty sure I can continue to for however long is needed. Afterall, I'll still have the internet to back me up if need be... what? I can have a little fun can't I? Maybe I should make that number eight, can't have any fun... just playing. :) )

And many other things. People just want to find something in me to criticize because they cannot do what I do or have the same morales as me. But I cannot blame them, for I just in return criticize them as well for anything against my morales. I pretty much just back off and let them have fun as long as they do the same for me.

They only get a fraction of the money made from selling the CDs.
The fraction depends on the record company, independants are usually more respectful of their artists than the huge brainwashing ones: for example, Metropolis [http://www.metropolis-records.com] and Out of Line [http://www.outofline.de] are awesome :)

LOL. I think that's all that needs to be said.

Man, looking at this thread; there really are some worthless nasty sorts, huh? I hope that somewhere deep inside, they feel the torment of being the spineless, asinine automatons they've allowed themselves to become.

I wonder how all the music pirates are going to feel if they drive all musicians out of their artistic medium due to the lack of funds.

A rather extreme idea perhaps but it bears thinking about.
It'll never happen. I can't remember where I read it...

Wait, I think it was a comment from Disturbed vocalist David Draiman, with the whole Napster mess. He said he didn't mind, unlike other bands (Metallica, etc.), because Disturbed make most of their money from their concerts. There'll always be plenty of people who only download or mostly download music, but still see their favourite bands live.

In fact, he even said that when people download some Disturbed songs, it increases the chance that they'll get into Disturbed, increasing the chance that they'd see them live.

Basically, bands make a lot of money from concerts. You can't pirate a live experience. Pirates won't drive bands out of business.

I respect Peter Gabriel and he's my favorite artist, therefore i purchased his back catalogue.
He owns it, lionshare goes to him.

My friends mocked me for it, said why didn't you download it?
