Erm. Why make an entire thread just moaning you don't like a game? :)

I adore LoZ. Ocarina of Time being one of my faves of the series because all the characters are great (bar Navi). :)

The Forest Temple isn't particularly hard compared to Bongo Bongo (Boss of the Shadow Temple) XD

But here's the gaming world....

You will like some games, you will hate some games. :) Other people will do that as well.

You have all insulted my videogaming skills and challenged my opinion.
So why am I loling?
Ah ha this is exacly what i was thinking.

OT: My first idea was to call you a casual , but i won't because i hate when people do that. But now to insult the best zelda game ever made (imho ) because you got stuck on the 1st temple after becoming adult link, merits flaming. Maybe the game is just too hard for you, i mean not everyone is able to handle video games ,my suggestion would be to either do something less straining on the mind like read a book ( if the words are too hard well get a childrens book ,because aparently you wont like anything you cant breeze through ) or buy hello kitty fantasy island , it might be more at your speed .All in all i don't mind when people hate a game , your entitled to your opinion, But to hate it because YOU suck at it is just silly and childish . Nostalgia is a terrible thing but ignorance is alot worst

I played OoT after I played Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, etc. and while I appreciate what the game did, it has not aged well. Haven't played the 3DS version, so maybe they fixed that, but there were many issues with that game. N64 games haven't aged well.

Personally, the only Zelda game that I more than liked, was Wind Waker but I loved it. It is really, my favorite game of all time, but I don't like the series much as a whole. Sure it's too easy, and the tri-force shard hunt at the end was rather annoying but I liked the sailing. Made the world feel large, and it was relaxing. Besides, once you got the Ballad of Gales, you could warp from place to place. Wasn't that much different than riding on Epona in the other games.

Eh. Hate is a rather strong word. You should go with dislike instead.
Hate would be like that you murder everyone who was in the development team and mentally torment the fans by making rule 34 where navi bones link.

We at the escapist know Ocarina of Time isn't a god send.

That title belongs to Wind Waker or Majora's Mask.

Come at me, Bro.
agreed but you forgot to include link's awakening and link to the past as part of that list of zelda games better then Ocarina of Time

its ranked one of the top games ever made personally I have beaten that game around 10 times I love it. I hate that nintendo keeps milking it tho this is the 5th re-release I belive

wii ware
the origenal
master quest
bonus disk for the cube
another differnt bonus for the cube
you can emulate it
now theres the 3d ver

I just hate that nintendo keeps milking it the origenal might have better easier controls?

if you are having trouble with the skeletons I always used to flip backwards to dodge n then do a jumping slash
I don't think Nintendo has anything to do with it being able to be emulated.

Ok so cut out the emulation part and you still have them releasing it 6 times which is alot and in my opinion is way to many times.

that's nice. And it was important to tell us... why?
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. There really not a lot of point to it.

It definitely is not the best Legend of Zelda. It is just the game that set the ground work for the 3D series, Wind Waker is so much better. Also what is LOS: TEN?
If you've red any of my previous posts you'd know, but LOS:TEN is Legend of Spyro The Eternal Night. Fuck Dragon time.
I didnt know that we had to read through a persons post catalogue before replying. Is this going to be on the test?

OT: I really dont have a lot to say about OOT. Played the original, seemed cool, havent played the new one. So I guess you win by virtue of my ignorance.

It's not as good as it once seemed granted.

Nostalgia is a *****.

And you died on a semi-difficult part. Figure out the OBVIOUS tactic for winning that fight. And people moan that games are too easy...

Ok, you didn't enjoy a game. Do you really feel the need to spread that opinion on the internet just because you died a few times on a game from roughly 13 years ago?

Don't like the game, don't play it. I really don't see the need for a rant thread against a popular game aside from grabbing for attention, and it seems to be working.

You know, people say that, yet I still enjoy plenty of NES, Genesis, and SNES games. Even games I never played as a child. I must be really good at tricking myself into liking these terrible classics.

Seriously, there's plenty of great classic games. Sometimes you have to accept flaws, but that's because the classics are what moved the medium forward in their days, and some of the later 2D games aged remarkably well. For example, I played Super Metroid for the first time last year. Marvelous game. I'm sorry, but people really need to stop playing the nostalgia card. I don't replay my favorites because they remind me of a happier time. I replay them because they're my favorites. I don't play the classics that I missed because they were a piece of my formative gaming years that I missed, I play them because I really like older styles, especially 2D platformers.

If you don't like them, that's fine. To each their own, but the community does not need more people who look down on those of us who enjoy more than just the latest fad.
I'm not looking down on anyone, I'm aware there are great classic games, and like I said, I don't have much opinion on Ocarina of Time in particular.

What pisses me off, are when people hail some games as the best thing since sliced bread even though literally every single aspect of their gameplay, design, production values, and everything else, are achaic and have been improved upon in every conceivable way since the game was released. It's one thing to appreciate what a game has done for the industry in the past and give it the reward its due for helping further our medium, its another thing entirely to still hold that game up as "the best game evar" even if its entirely dated and worthless as a game by itself in the current state of the market.

Again, im not talking about Zelda here, but I was saying to the OP that its good to challenge older games that are held in high regard if we dont believe they should be, regardless of how much flak we get from "hardcore gamers" for doing it. Take a game like Deus Ex for example, the game has absolutely no worth today if you forget what it did in the past; its just a big clunky mess with zero production values. It gives you a lot of options, none of which are at all polished or refined. Its painful to play. Yet hipster gamers regard it as of one of the best first person games ever of which nothing has ever come close to surpassing. Bullshit, everything it has done has been done 10 times better; and if Deus Ex was released today it would be entirely disregarded with 4.0 review scores and wouldn't even gain even a fraction of the fanbase it has today.
Actually I just finished Deus Ex for the first time about a week ago. And as someone well past the nostalgia phase, I can say that I thought the game was great. Yes, it's very open ended, especially compared to a lot of games. But that's because it's a first person RPG. It's not a shooter. Those aren't even my kinds of games, usually but I thought it was great.

An interesting story, fun augmentations (though I really only used like 4 of them usually), good controls (apart from occasionally having to reach over and hit F11). And I will say, from my perspective, it's a very very ugly game. I'm not one for PC graphics in the earlier days of 3D. But only in terms of character models. The level layout and expansiveness of it all was very impressive and really fun to just run around and take a look at all the architecture and whatnot.

It's not the greatest game ever, and it's not even one of my favorite games. But I wouldn't say it's painful to play, had horrible production values and no worth in the world of today. After all, you'd be hard pressed to find a game that doesn't have at least one little problem. Especially if you throw people from all sorts of different genre preferences at it.

Hey! Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night wasn't terrible! And Dragon Time is actually quite useful since all of the enemies gang bang you the moment you enter a room. Everyone keeps saying how it's such a downgrade from the original trilogy, but what they fail to see is that it's a REBOOT! Which means that it is going to be different. Reboots aren't meant to keep continuity with the original storyline, if they did, then they're not a reboot, they're just a continuation. Even though Spyro games weren't really meant to tell an epic of a tale, they were just fetch quest games. In my opinion, I think the "Legend of Spyro" trilogy was better in terms of story and gameplay, and the original trilogy is better at exploration and just having a grand old time reliving memories.

As for OoT, this revamp didn't really do anything except give the game a facelift. Personally I think the original copy is better, glitches and all. And games were programed to be difficult so it would force the player to use strategy instead of mindlessly mashing buttons and doing the same tried and failed tactic over and over again. I doubt ranting about a game on these forums is going to get you any further in that temple, and it probably won't get you a very great appeal to the fellow escapists, but that's just my opinion.

You know what? That's fine.
I enjoy them. You don't. At least you don't hate it because of it's difficulty. You hate them because like you said, you don't fine them fun.

Did you make this post for any reason beyond garnering hatred? Because those who agree with you are going to be passive, and those that don't will DESPISE you.
I believe that he made this thread to express his opinion. Which is what people do at forums.

I love Ocarina, but back then I had a strategy guide and it was one of the best offerings out there. Its story is meant to be more of a fairytale adventure than an epic, and its ideas and versatility were unlike anything done before, even in the Zelda series.

I honestly don't blame you for not liking it today; it's good, but I'm not sure if it'd be so praised if it were released brand new today. If you want something with more 'substance' to it, I'd vouch for Majora's Mask, Wind Waker or even Skyward Sword.
