As has been said before, give anyone anonymity and a bunch of strangers and 80% of the time they will resort to asshattery. PSN has them, the PC has them and Xbox Live has them.

It's just the way things are.

So i got a 360 for christmas, so i left my PS3 and Wii rest.
Been playing online games since Diablo 2, and never have i seen so many (excuse the language) arseholes before! Almost everyone i meet on xbox live are pricks who has an urge to swear and make rude remarks every two seconds or people who seem nice for a while but then they start being just like the the others.
Does xbox live really change people? I've never met anyone like this on PSN, so i dont get it!
What games do you play? In my experience, the quality of the players varies greatly between different games...
To be fair, the online games that i play are mostly shooters, but thats because i dont want to play a driving game on my 360... It feels really stiff compared to the PS3 controller (Driving controls)
But its not only what games i play thats the problem. Often when i join my friends' parties, then i meet new people, right? So often i make new friends that way that turn out to be pricks
Oh. Well, there's pricks everywhere. 90% of the people you walk past on the street are probably pricks, but they're not all given mics and told to interact... :)

you could always just block them out so u cant hear them anymore and then eventually they will get fed up with or just dont respond to it then they lose intreast i think with any online gaming you are bound to get a thew dicks here and there just dont let it bother you

There are a lot of pricks then there are some "diamonds in the rough" these people will swear but are not spoiled 12-6 year olds as the sterio type goes. I would like to think of myself as one of those diamonds I have yet to swear over XBL......well I think it is an accomplishment. Ok granted while playing halo I tea bag occasionally but who is not guilty at least at some time

Its the games, which attract the pricks on XBL, the nicer guys are usually on the ones where you actually have to work together i.e. left for dead, or sports games.
You have not played enough online co-op. Plenty of jerks who like to TK the second a game starts, or refuse to help because of an achievement.

Don't hate the game, hate the player(s).

Seriously, it's not xbox live's fault. It sounds to me that you're playing the wrong games. Let me guess- plenty of Halo 3 and Call of Duty, right?

Play more mature games, like Rainbow Six: Vegas or Battlestations: Pacific, and you will meet more mature people.

Or just talk with your friends in private chat or a party, or take your headset off. Problem solved, now you can enjoy xbox live for what it is.

People like that are on PSN, just none of them have bluetooth, so you can't hear the insults they throw at you.
They could just message me...?
That's too much effort.

The thing is that in the XBL lobbies almost everyone has a mic, so they can just shout insults/slurs/etc at the people without having to do anything but talk. And it's not like they're calling out on person in particular- they're just shouting to seem badass or something. It doesn't work when they send a message to one person in particular, and if that happens there's always the chance of them getting talked back to or reported or something.

Some of the assholes do have bluetooths though, but the concentration of pricks with mics is much lower than that of XBL.

Which games... ive noticed it a lot in the FPS genre but not nearly half as much in other games.

The invention of the mute button quickly souses the idiots you play with :)
But really if they can annoy you and you start to realise that they can be nasty you should have noticed that they are rebutals to the assholes anyway/

Everyone's an idiot on Xbox Live. Fact.
Just live with it.
Or adapt and party up with friends.
If the arseholes persist, mute 'em or boot 'em.

I believe its because the vast majority of Xbox gamers have a microphone; and once you get into a culture of swearing etc... its hard to stop.

If you want a (usually) quiet game add some Escapists to your friends list- I'll send you a friend request if you'd like.

EDIT : No I won't - what's so wrong with letting people know your XBL gamertag?

I agree there is not as many arseholes on PSN, or they don't have mics. I have played Resistance 2 online and I have had good luck so far. Becase if they are going to shout at someone, it will probably be the medic that didn't save them.
The only game I have had to deal with a serious arsehole was Hidden: Source on PC. My solution: shoot him then log off ( Hidden: Source has friendly fire )

Thing is more people have mics on Live. On PSN not many people do and not many are going to be bothered enough to type out a message and send it to you.

You titled your already controverisal statement with a smiley.
I now no longer take you seriously.

Nobody is like that on PSN because it doesn't work.

And the simple way to avoid dicks on Xbox Live (yes of which there are many) is to not plug your headset in.
