Dude, stop whining seriously. "oh no that complete stranger on the other side of the world just insulted my mother (or something) now I'm going to go cry in a corner" boo hoo hoo... jeeze, it's a GAME (or games) which is something that far to many people forget these days.

Xbox Live itself is wonderful.

Yeah, you do encounter the occasional douche-bag on it, but the same can be said about life.

Luckily, the majority of Live users are sound people, with no desire to be a spoilsport.

I got the mic with my Elite.

Interestingly enough, an acquaintance of mine is the most annoying ass online whenever he gets on PGR4. OTOH, I generally beleive in being polite and laid back.

It's the same as in life though, you go to some tournaments and they're all talking shit to each other, esp in fighting games. Try going to NEC one day.

It might just be part of the kind of game you play, but otherwise, message me, and I'll friend you. If I see you on Live, I'll be nice.

Every single time there was freeplay on GTA4 online, every single person figured it was a big deathmatch, doofuses.

urge to swear and make rude remarks every two seconds or people who seem nice for a while but then they start being just like the the others.
Does xbox live really change people? I've never met anyone like this on PSN, so i dont get it!
It's the Internet. The Internet changes people or eh...'reveals' them.
That said, I have no idea about your 'PSN comment'...

Been playing online games since Diablo 2, and never have i seen so many (excuse the language) arseholes before! Almost everyone i meet on xbox live are pricks who has an urge to swear and make rude remarks every two seconds or people who seem nice for a while but then they start being just like the the others.

Ah you have found the crutch of online gaming communication (OGC). Honestly I don't know why people act like that, it was the main reason why I quite playing Halo 2.

The weird thing is that I really don't have that problem on PSN. I either get, rarely, people that I will actually want to talk to, people speaking in a language I can't understand, or that one person that has a head set but left it by the fan.

Out of the entire time I have spent playing on PSN I have only had three jerks that I muted for their language. On Xbox Live it was almost every game that I would get some one like that, more like ever other game. I have had it happen to me on some PC games, but not in the volume I found on Xbox Live.

top 2 idiot-filled games:
1. halo 3
2. cod4

but most of the nice people on xbox have found a group of friends and stay in the xbox party chat. its safer there.

I set my live mode to recreational and have only met a handfull of assholes. Most of the time I end up playing with; people I can get along with, arn't using a mic, or just dont talk.

You have no fucking idea how frustrating to play on xbox live lately.

I had been playing Soul Calibur IV online lately, right after summer starts (you know what that means, middle school/high school's out), all I had been playing with were bunch of sore losers who complains about how mashing B isn't doing it for them, they just flat out harass you for beating them.

It's the intoxicating power of anonymity (sp?). They would never say those things to your face, or at a LAN party. But online, they're just a detatched voice. They can say what they want and without punishment.

This doesn't just happen on the Xbox live but as well as on the PC world. You'll see it in every game and even a few casual online multiplayer games. People are immature when they know they can't be punished for it and everyone is a featureless ghost.

I remember playing Team Fortress 1 and in every online match there were at least 1 prick that couldn't shut up. He or she would send messages while playing cursing people out for shooting him/her, claiming everyone is cheating, cursing people out for shooting him/her while he was writing... etc.

Nowadays with people talking through a microphone, people don't have to wait to type out that they are an immature little douches while playing the game. If you don't like it, turn the sound down and play or mute them.

This happens everywhere really to be honest but if it seems to happen more on the xbox that might be because it has a larger population of people ages 12-16ish where they are most like that.
Not to generalise people but just giving a genral age group I'm sure there are also 40+immature people on xbox live.

People like that are on PSN, just none of them have bluetooth, so you can't hear the insults they throw at you.
They could just message me...?
The public is too lazy to type a message =p

It varies greatly depending on what game you're playing. The people that play Halo are usually jerks, but most of the people I've met on Left 4 Dead have been pretty cool. I think it's because the latter encourages, nay, demands cooperative gameplay and so if you start insulting your teammates they're not going to want to save you.

people on xbox live are all douches....a very good example would be everyone who plays Halo 3 online during the day. all that's there are little 5-10 year old kids and they get pissed when you say things like "shit" and "fuck" and every other emo high school kids who threatens to report you just cuz you accidently team killed them with a sniper shot...even after you told them you were getting ready to snipe someone and they still stood in your way

I can't imagine anyone being this naive, so I can only pray that you are really a troll.

On Topic: I have a friend who claims that Xbox LIVE changes "everyone," but I have yet to see the majority of people I know act any differently online than they might otherwise. Obviously with the Wii, you don't find many jerks because nobody has a mic.

I enjoy playing SF IV online. No matter how big a jerk the other guy is I just kick his ass. Also, the guys who talk in that game always lose, you can't concentrate and trash-talk at the same time.
