You do meet some sound people from time to time, but I agree with the comment made about the genre of the game. A bit of competition seems to turn people into foul-mouthed little monsters because they know they can't get on like that in the real world without someone bigger than them beating the stink off them.

Well doi, Xbox Live is full of brats, trolls and pedophiles. I'm firmly sure PSN doesn't suffer that problem. Also the PS3 doesn't come with headphones so your odds of stumbling over whiny loud-mouthed fucks are severely reduced compared to Xbox Live.

I hate people in general, competetiveness is rarely productive, people just do it because seeing other people fail makes them feel less insecure.

The reason you don't get as many douchebags on the PSN is because you get a smatter, classier breed of bastard instead.
For example, a typical scenario on a 360 game:

welp. I don't own an xbox but I have played on xbox live before and talked to people on it. and noone was an arse to me. but then again I don't really do anything to piss people off. and yes...I do suck at L4D.
