Honestly, I've never played on xbox live before (just offline because im such a douche at 1st person shooters >_<)
Though, my fiance does and the people he chats to all the time on there are really dead on. Sometimes ive even chatted to them myself and i expected them to totally take the piss, but they didnt. So, hang in there! There are nice people on xbox live somewhere!!!

I think the thing is with the Playstation 3, because it's so expensive you're less likely to get hyperactive 9 year old idiots. Whereas the 360 is cheaper so more little kids get to have one and ruin the online experience for everyone else.

It varies greatly depending on what game you're playing. The people that play Halo are usually jerks, but most of the people I've met on Left 4 Dead have been pretty cool. I think it's because the latter encourages, nay, demands cooperative gameplay and so if you start insulting your teammates they're not going to want to save you.
I've only met two trolls on L4D in 15 hours of gameplay, so I'd have to agree with you there.

Anyway, there's a simple answer: there are trolls everywhere. Just mute them or ignore them.

but as you mentioned the PSN community from the most part in my experience is much more mature.
Due to their inability to speak. I know a few PS3 trolls with mikes. They're just as offensive as the 360 variety.

um....no some people are decent some are nice but some are down right pricks!!
I've played with dozens of R-tards on Halo 3, I'm not saying everybody who plays Halo 3 or any other online game is jerk. I have some friends who are pretty cool people. I wish i could play with you on xbox live but it's being a *****!>:V

God gave humans the internet, the internet gave humans the ability to be anonymous dickheads, which in turn gave everyone the right to voice their inner racist, pervert, nerd, meaness, and whatever!

Long live Xbox Live!

To quote Yahtzee "People are shit. You're shit, I'm shit. Everyone's shit. And if you're sitting there thinking, 'yes, everyone's shit except for me' then you're a double bacon shit with a large fry on the side."

Trust me, idiots are everywhere. The Xbox seems to have the most just because everyone has a mic. On the PC, people seem friendlier because they usually type things out. People tend to be friendlier when they have to take the time to spell it out.

Rather insulted that you seem to think psn is free of twats I have all 3 consoles online and play online PC games often and ALL have an equal amount of twats it's rare to find decent human beings on either, the 360 has more vocal idiots but has the party system to keep them out while the ps3 has a limited population of mic owners but those that do rarely use them for anything but blaring music down it.

Here's something that I've found to be universally true:
Internet anonymity + regular guy = total dick

When there is no personal consequence to you for being an ass (because nobody knows who you are), people act like total idiots. I think the idiots are just more vocal on the X-box.

So i got a 360 for christmas, so i left my PS3 and Wii rest.
Been playing online games since Diablo 2, and never have i seen so many (excuse the language) arseholes before! Almost everyone i meet on xbox live are pricks who has an urge to swear and make rude remarks every two seconds or people who seem nice for a while but then they start being just like the the others.
Does xbox live really change people? I've never met anyone like this on PSN, so i dont get it!
I hear you. basically the lexicon of the entire 10 year old populous xbox live (minus a few alright people and an even more miniscule amount of really good people) is made up of words that consisting of no more than six letters except perhaps their own bloody names. In fact I might start a thread on the highest number of letters in words used by people on xboxlive.

You titled your already controverisal statement with a smiley.
I now no longer take you seriously.

Nobody is like that on PSN because it doesn't work.

And the simple way to avoid dicks on Xbox Live (yes of which there are many) is to not plug your headset in.
/Irrelevant snide (fanboy(?)) comment against the perfectly fine PSN system.

Welcome to the escapist and welcome to the world of online gaming...
But if this is online gaming, then why are noone like it on PSN?
Oh theyre out there, trust me.
I dont doubt it, but there must be less of 'em

I was out playing some Burnout Paradise online on my PSN, I beat this one guy who was talking trash over VOIP... lets just say this bugger is on my block list.

Yep, Xbox live is like a piss ridden paddling pool filled with homophobic foul mouthed adolescents- sometimes it feels like Live is just some scam to get me to pay for the pleasure of babysitting other peoples vile offspring. I direct your attention to the 'mute' option. I would like to shake the hand of the person that thought to put that in...

Everyone is an idiot when online because you get to say whatever you want to someone with no threat of ever actually meeting them. Way to go by generalising the Xbox community as a bunch of obnoxiious pricks given that many of the PSN are much the same.
