Sure. It's one of the best militaries in the world apparently. One thing though, do you have the temperament for it? Because if you're no good at taking orders, don't expect to learn.

Also, whats the other country you have citizenship in?

Also, no military is glorious. Even if its nationalistic pride and everything, it's still just a job.
A group of people who will lay down their own lives for the good of the country and its people gets to be called glorious, or another less rediculous word with a similar meaning. Leave it to a bunch of videogame nerds who do nothing but sit on there asses all day to decide what is what.

And from what I understand, he was joking when he called his military glorious.
By this logic the Nazi's were glorious, so are all the iraqi insurgents. Hell Japan's attack on pearl harbor sure was glorious, so was America nuking them.

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once.

Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

Since you view the fins as having a glorious military, i'd say it was the right choice.

The cream rises to the top.

Rise, and it will be worth it.

Finland has a military? This time I am not joking like with Canadian version of this tread.
This time I really am surprised.
And I can tell you this, if they do have a real military then it is far from glorious.
How would you expect it to defend itself otherwise? That really is quite silly.

Also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_war.

That is VERY much glorious.

If you think its the right thing to do, then its the right thing to do. I don't think the military is "glorious" in the sense that people will crowd around you to cast flowers at your feet. However, I do appreciate, and respect, people that join the army so they can serve and help those who cannot help themselves. Personally, I'd love to join the Canadian Army, I even had my papers for it. Then I remembered that I'm horribly out of shape, and I can't survive on no sleep, and I'm a massive loser. So I decided against the army.

War is extremely brutal and unnecessary, "hate the game, not the players." And there will always be someone on the recieving end who won't think so. I hated what the Nazi's did, and I hate what insurgents do. But they believethey are doing it for a good cause. So what I should say is every countris's actions are glorious, deopendeing on who you are.

Good for you. Which branch though? If you joined the Navy, a solid gold toilet bowl for you! Army, a silver toilet bowl that's got a few dents in it. Air Force, you get a cracked plastic bucket.

You Finns make good Snipers, Russia would certainly have a hard time invading you.
Russia tried and failed. Miserably, I might add.

I know, a Finnish sharpshooter also got the highest amount of confirmed kills ever. Over 500.

It's also remarkable that most of these kills were using Ironsight and not scope at ranges of 800 metres in the torrential snow. Scopes were widely disliked because they fogged up and light reflecting off them could give away the shooter's position.

Well you wont have to worry hard about going to war seeing as Finland is a pretty peaceful nation, so the worst that could happen is that you wont like it, and you leave after your first tour. Which after words you wont have to much finding a job since people who were in the military usually get priority for employment. Im actually joining the United States Air Force after college, hopefully I can be a pilot.
Really people who are ex military get priority employment? is that a Finnish thing cos it isnt true in the US and the UK hence the massive over representation of Ex-armed forces in the unemployed and homeless sectors.

Hold on now, friend from the north (Estonia here). Isn't the Finnish military mandatory ? It sure is here.

But yeah, it's a smart choice. Military service is a plus on your CV all the time.

What's with all these threads about people joining the military, lately? Seriously, i don't understand it. Can someone explain to me what's so attractive about the army? And i mean, some serious reasons, not puerile ones like "GUNNZ R COUL, LOLZ".
Personally, i'd rather cut my own arm off than join the army, i'd rather die than go to war (i would probably die if i'd be sent to fight, anyway). That's just my personal opinion thought, so i honestly can't say if this decision was right for you.
