Have you played any matches with it yet? And are you a total beginner, or have you played using someone else's cards before?

Damn...I wish I could get a physical magic deck. Just.. for the sake of it. I wouldn't even have anyone to play with but it would still be worth it. Nonetheless, for now I'm happy burning hours into Duels of the planeswalkers 2012.

As for the deck, I have no clue what it does. But I happen to know that Blue/Red decks can imply being a complete mindfuck to your opponents. Maybe if Root of the firemind works like that deck then I might have a clue.. but I really don't know. So that's my take on it! If it doesn't have counters you might want to add a few I suppose.

Oh.. just to note. Having no experience with physical magic cards.. I suppose listening to me might be a bad idea, no matter how small the advice actually is.

I looked up those cards, and it seems like they combo very nicely with each other. I wouldn't change anything about that deck until you've played quite a few games with it and know more about the other cards that are out there.

Wow. The only cards in that deck I recognize are the Islands and Mountains. It's been way too long since I've played Magic.

You're playing Blue. Get Counterspells. They're always good.

half my deck is counter/ draw a card with replicate which allows me to constantly recast the spell over and over again at the cost of mana

Get good, and if you plan on playing for long and actually winning, you will need to be well funded, I used to make 6-700 dollar decks that could compete and in a few months were worthless.

srry for double post but summoning monsters counts as a spell right?
Every card you play that costs mana to play it is a spell, unless they've changed that recently, I haven't had anyone to play MtG with in years.

A proper deck doesn't even need monsters if you play it right, I know my nastiest red deck had no monsters and was able to keep the field clean long enough for me to deal over 20 direct damage with minimal problems.

It's actually a rather old deck, from the couple cards I looked up.

I would take out the cards you threw in until you got some practice with the core deck itself. It's really really important that your cards combo well together.

Also, don't be a dick. Get Cancels, not counterspells. Your friends will thank you =)

And yes, every card except land is a spell.

Yes. Basically anything you play other than lands all count as spells.

I'm currently on the other side of this spectrum. I have a giant box full of good and bad magic cards that I'm about to sell back to the card shop. Great and fun game but dang its expensive to keep up and keep playing tournaments.

It's (almost) always a good idea, with blue/red, to include the standard field control/removal spells. See if you can pick up some common ones like lightning bolt, unsummon, boomerang...

No creatures is perfectly fine.

Many decks that run blue center are known as "control" and focus on controlling the board by not letting the opponent do anything, countering his/her spells, and removing threats from the field.

Red is known for its "burn" style, which uses cheap cards to deal damage quickly to an opponent. Having a lot of instants and/or sorceries to deal direct damage.

A combination of the two can easily win with no creatures in the deck.
