as the title said i just got my first magic the gathering deck at the calgary comic expo. the starter i chose was the izzet gizometry guild deck, and i was just wondering if i had made the right choice and how i should adjust this deck.
very well my good manMister Gobbles said:Sorry dude, NO idea what that deck is. Prehaps you could provide a deck list or something?
i am a complete beginner only just learning hoe to play earlier today from a PDF file. i have yet to play any matches but i might play one with some friends tomorrow if they show up.MisterGobbles said:Have you played any matches with it yet? And are you a total beginner, or have you played using someone else's cards before?
well i also tossed in some other cards from boosters like psychosis crawler, overwhelming intellect, and sokenzan spellbladeMisterGobbles said:I looked up those cards, and it seems like they combo very nicely with each other. I wouldn't change anything about that deck until you've played quite a few games with it and know more about the other cards that are out there.
half my deck is counter/ draw a card with replicate which allows me to constantly recast the spell over and over again at the cost of manaAris Khandr said:Wow. The only cards in that deck I recognize are the Islands and Mountains. It's been way too long since I've played Magic.
You're playing Blue. Get Counterspells. They're always good.
Every card you play that costs mana to play it is a spell, unless they've changed that recently, I haven't had anyone to play MtG with in years.chaos order said:srry for double post but summoning monsters counts as a spell right?
A proper deck doesn't even need monsters if you play it right, I know my nastiest red deck had no monsters and was able to keep the field clean long enough for me to deal over 20 direct damage with minimal problems.chaos order said:also it doesnt have many monsters, and mainly uses sorceries and instants.
It's actually a rather old deck, from the couple cards I looked up.Aris Khandr said:Wow. The only cards in that deck I recognize are the Islands and Mountains. It's been way too long since I've played Magic.

Yes. Basically anything you play other than lands all count as spells.chaos order said:srry for double post but summoning monsters counts as a spell right?
