Skyrim is a sandboxy role playing game where as most mainstream so called RPG's are played more like a choose your own story book. Games like mass effect and Dragon age don't appeal to me and many others because its like watching a 40 hour long movie where you have to make some kind arbitrary choice every 5 seconds just to watch the ending movie and get it over with, I don't want to care about the characters, I want to be the character and that is what a role playing game should be in my opinion. That is why the TES games are so loved by many and disliked by many. So its not you flavor, play something you like and get over your self.

To address the hype and elation over Skyrim, the only add or review I had for buying the game was Morrowind and Oblivion, no add or review convinced me to like the game, just the fact that it was similar to the others from Bethesda I would have at least 80 hours of enjoyment and I did.

To address the bugs, I played 120 hours game time on 1 play through on my PC and had 4 bugs total, maybe 2 graphical glitches or a plate falling off a dresser...sorry for everyone else that had bad luck but it seems the game I bought worked fine.

Skyrim is not bad and it is not broken, some people just don't like it, if they did I might not like it... it just boils down to different people like different things and hold to different virtues in their gaming experiences.

to the OP I hope you like your next game more.

I don't know why I read this....I guess I thought maybe it would actually mean something to me but i guess i was wrong...just another guy angry at skyrim who felt he needed to voice his opinion, I mean I'm glad you have an opinion but a lot of other people are actually having fun with the game so I feel like this whole thread is kind of pointless...

It's like: "Hey everyone! I hate this game! Just thought you should know! ...Cussing!"

Harsh man. Perhaps your overall gaming expectations are too high.

Don't get why you just didn't uninstall after the first 20 or so hours, but ok.
I don't get why people think that 20 hours into a game is a short amount of time. I've quit games after 20 minutes. I've played 70+ hours of Skyrim because I liked it. Playing 20 hours of something you don't like seems like a long fucking time to play.

Biggest crock of shit line ever spouted: "The game doesn't even begin until 60!" (world of warcraft). There were in the original game 60 levels and dozens of zones before you hit level 60. I'm pretty sure my game began at level 1, the same as everyone else.

This horse shit statement can pretty much be crafted for any other game and still be a crock of shit. "You haven't experienced until you've played !"

If you think that games grow on you after hours if you don't like them from the start, I'd like to borrow your rose colored glasses for every game I hated because I suspect you only say things like that because you like those games.

Killing people because they're bad actors is kind of douchey, but hey, your choice man. There were some flaws I guess.
Heh, you never wanted to off a character you didn't like? Or kill everyone in, say, the Star Wars prequels?
Well, if I killed all of them, we wouldn't know more about Darth Vader's origin story, would we now? But yes, cuz they're assholes, not bad actors. Then I just stop watching or laugh and ridicule them.
I ridiculed them too. With my bow.
It must have been hilarious.

Because they are apologists. They will say anything.

Played 20 hours, didn't like it. Apologists say:

- Why did you play so long if you didn't like it
- 20 hours isn't enough, the game opens up at 20.5 hours.

I find it strange that if someone compliments a game, a ton of people pour in and are like 'OH YEAH, GREAT GAME. LOVE YOU, OP.' But if someone says a game is bad, a ton of people pour in and are like 'THAT'S YOUR OPINION. WE DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU. GO AWAY! LALALALALALALA'
Hear, hear!

That doesnt even make sense, the game starts as soon as you start it.

If you are playing it and cant find enjoyment in it then quit.

I dont get this insane idea that you need to play a game for an X amount of time before you can enjoy it.

I think you may have missed my point.

I was saying that that apologists will criticize a person who doesn't like a game no matter the argument.

If you didn't like the game, there is no sweet spot for apoogists. 20 hours is either too long and you must have liked it enough to play for 20 hours or 20 hours is too short and you didn't play it long enough to give it a good sampling. I am not saying that I think that way, I am saying that apologists think that way.

I didnt miss your point, I just failed to state "I agree with you".

Although I wouldnt go around labeling anyone that enjoyed Skyrim an apologist, and then labeling apologist as people that make these ludicrous statements. Generalizing is bad, in General. ;)

Actually what I meant was since you can accomplish all major plot points within 20 hrs. why continue, obviously if you don't like the main story your not going to like the rest.

I actually had the same problem as the OP with Oblivion, I was totally pumped up for it because I loved Morrowind, but the game absolutely annoyed me to death.

I think the main problem is rampant in a lot of RPG's nowadays, developers go for quantity over quality when it comes to quests, or rather, in Skyrim and Oblivions case, they didn't seem too bothered to try and make their quests a bit lively or amazing at all, or is that just me? The overall writing in these two games seemed rather uninspired and hurried.

To be honest, my biggest problem is that I compare every RPG to Baldur's Gate 2, that game has some mindblowing sidequests that are just as epic as the main story line, and it's only a semi-open world, still on a linear track but with lots of room to fool around.

I guess it's actually quite simple: If you put more effort into making an open world, you can't put that effort into making quality quests!

You know OP, I'm proud of you for making this thread. It takes balls to face this kind of backlash.

It is just a game. Games are for your amusement, if it is not amusing to you, don't play it(& don't flame it), simple.

I enjoyed Skyrim. Thanks for your opinion. ;)

I didn't particularly like Skyrim either. I played about an hour, got bored and went back to Amy.

meh I don't understand why this needed 13 pages of arguments. Maybe people wanted to be heard, maybe people wanted to vent frustration. But I do want to say this that it was really a pointless thread and the insults to people and their choice in games was rather childish. I disagree with the OP because I enjoy the game so their OP can you deal with that? Probably right.

It's whatever, I hope you find a game that you like and play it till it's dead. If that is Call of Duty than its that if its solitaire dude, play it to death as well. Your choices your money, waste it as much as you care to do and have fun.

Cheers to everyone who made it to 13 pages and I hope you take your stress out on your favorite game
