I love camping

Being out with nature, cooking marshmellows, tents etc, its all good fun

What I hate with a passion is boring opponents that stay in one room, of course, if you know how to play the game tactically you can still take them out, but I just find it boring.

So are you a happy camper and / or an FPS camper Or do you detest both?

And how do you eliminate those pesky campers

I don't like the like low-level camper's, being killed by a camper whilst running round the map is bad enough, but when you see it's the low-level person in that lobby it's even worse simply because it show's he has no intention of getting better at the certain FPS, Call of Duty *Cough Cough* You at least have to move to expand your experience and get better at the game.

Normally to get your revenge on the camper's, if talking about Call of Duty Black Ops, is throw on Hacker, to find the claymore they have probably put down to guard the other way in to there hiddey hole and get them from there. Or just don't go near that section of the map, can't get killed by a camper's claymore if your nowhere near it.

If were talking about Battlefield, well on Battlefield 2 on Xbox, camping is almost endorsed by the Recon Class. But on either game they have the trustee, "Killcam" or whatever it's called on Battlefield* and with a tiny bit of map knowledge you can find them and get your sweet sweet revenge, with extra tea-bagging.

*Please don't hang me battlefield player for not knowing what it's called.

Camping is awesome. Especially when it leads to pyromania and outdoor sex. (Though not in combination.)

As for FPS camping, I'm with Red vs Blue:
"It's a legitimate strategy!"

I absolutely hate camping.

3 years ago, 1st time I went camping, I got molested by a stoned fatty, I woke up with her hand down my boxers.

This February, I feared for my life when someone claimed they have tablets for "Anti-anxiety and Anti-RAGE." I shat bricks when she said that.

Real life camping: Fun as hell (especially when you catch your own food, build your own shelters, etc.)

FPS Camping (TF2 being the only applicable game here for me): Boooooring!! Though I have no problem with people who do it. It's just so boring to me to stand in a single spot. That's why I hate being a sniper or engie (though I tend to play as an engie a lot because I'll switch if my team doesn't have one. I won't switch to Sniper though).

Exactly! If shooters are going to get more and more realistic then using real life tactics makes perfect sense. Think about it people.

Since camping is a larger real life tactic then running & gunning i don't mind seeing or being the camper.
Personally run & gun sniper's in fps anger me more then any camper, I'd like to see them join the military & try run & gun sniping

I don't do FPS but campers in wow suck balls, usually level 85's who hang around low level areas and gank all the players, ffs just go raiding like the rest of the real virgins!

As far as online multiplayer gaming goes, setting up in an area and waiting for the enemy to come to you can be a legitimate tactic, but like all tactics there is a time and place for everything. My problem with campers only kicks in when someone in a lobby does it all game every game. I'll fully admit that I've camped online before, but done as and when the situation called for it (regrouping teammates, holding objective, catching a breather after being shot to hell, whatever) and only for as long as necessary. Spending an entire 15-20 minute game in the same spot looking down the same sight for the same guy who won't take the hint isn't my idea of a fun game.

Picking out seven or eight good overwatch positions per level and constantly (and silently) moving between them, that's the way to go...

It's no fun. Anyone who chooses waiting in a corner for someone to walk past, as opposed to running about chucking grenades in every direction has a bizarre joyless mindset.

FPS camping seems like a cheap thing to do although I'm not the best person to judge since I don't play any fps online.

It's not called Camping it's called Defending. There is nothing wrong with camping.. or Defending as I call it, I do it ALL the time and if someone try's to camp you, All you gotta do is "CounterCamp".

CounterCamp - The process of defending a postion outside a campers Killzone in hopes they move toward you instead of you moving toward them.

Yeah but all in all I never took all this Halo Jumping, Camping, Hardscopeing, whatever busniess seriously, I'm there to have fun and besides it's all about your Connection Strength in these games. THAT'S what is most important.

My FPS of choice is Unreal Tournament, with the Flak Cannon, in the conservatory. Camping works... not so well. In general I don't have a problem with it if fits the situation. Actually, the only time I get irritated about camping is when people ***** about campers when what you are doing is covering the main access to the objective you are meant to be defending. Next they'll be claiming that shooting opponent players is cheap tactics.

I hate camping and I hate just about every online FPS except Team Fortress 2 (and I'm not entirely sure what I like that one so much).

You won't see me camping in a game like Call of Duty, but in games with really large open maps (Battlefield 2 for example) you can sometimes see me (or rather, you won't!) lying in a river bed. Completely in cover, waiting for a good shot.

Not surprisingly it is frowned upon by the rest of the players, because you're not helping capture any points (merely defending them) and not racking up the kills like someone with an assault rifle who is on the frontline.. So I try not to do it too much.

It's fun though. A nice relaxing game. And it feels good to end a game with no deaths, avoided any danger and attention while getting a good number of kills. Too many and they start sending out people just to hunt you down, which can be entertaining, but not the situation I hope to be in..
