Oh, I thought Mako was the energy the Shinra used to power everything. Nevermind. This is just another stupid ME thread to add to the ever growing mountain...
LOL Yeah Shin-ra. Screwing up more FFVII characters than anyone else :p

not gonna lie thought you were talking about the voice actor
Yeah, same actually.

OT: The Mako is adequate... That's about it really.

Or, it was annoying: you spent your time driving up cliff faces at 2 mph, only to see the ramp you were "supposed" to use 10 feet to your left. At worst, however, it was absolutely infuriating.
Wait, there was a ramp you were supposed to use? I just went straight over every cliff, and if it didn't work, turning a few degrees got me over the top.

I often get the impression that some people just get unlucky, usually people who are going looking for flaws.

I liked the Mako, and never once had a problem with the guns, the boosters, the steering, or any part of it.

Then again, I also liked the warthog, the horses in GUN, and most other vehicles, maybe it's just me.

The Mako didn't have a very big effect on me, as I remember it handles like the vehicles did in the original Halo, the input you give, I.e. forwards, turn left, whatever, relates to the position of the camera. It really is a horrible system but you can get used to it reasonably well.

Why they just don't go for standard vehicle controls I don't know.

I sort of had a love/hate relationship with the Mako. It did frustrate me a lot of times with its controls and its tendency to just almost but not quite be able to reach the peak of a mountain just when I'm at the verge of cresting the top. Still, though, it got me through a lot of tough times, we spent a lot of time together, and I was sad when it was incapacitated and assumedly killed at the end of the game.

I should probably make a note that I played this on PC.

So this was not the case.

The only real problem I had with the MAKO was the inability to shoot down. I'd always try to get a nice high postition whenever possible, and I'd have to drive partially down the hill to aim the gun down far enough to hit aything but sky. late in the game I'd park the MAKO and use it for cover while clearing out the bad guys with a sniper rifle (only worked when a sniper rifle was availiable obviously).

I love it, I just can't shoot anything small because of the stupid cannon being unable to rotate that far down.

I liked the Mako as well, it was quite fast and sort of fun for a while, and you could pretty much dominate with it so long as you have the right distance.

I quite liked the Mako and actually found the controls to be quite acceptable. There have certainly been worse vehicles out there in videogameland.

You can't really blame the tedium of exploring the side planets in ME on the Mako. Those barren wastes would still be dull no matter what vehicle you were driving.

Just as a bad workman blames his tools, a bad driver also blames his vehicle...:)

Oh god I loved it, it's so bouncy and cute. It looks like a boat-tank-spaceship-thing and can get you everywhere! Did they really get rid of it in ME2? How do you explore planets then? No spoilers please.

Let me illustrate the issue Schmidtzkrieg talks about.

Not to mention the tiny tiny tiny tiny itzy bitz crosshair that doesn't actually show where the shot goes most of the time, if you look from the wrong angle.

Let's face it. The Mako was a forced vechicle section that was just stupid. And if you "liked" it. You're... I'll just stop right there. The fact it actually took up such a large part of the game is almost unforgivable. I love the game, but GOD(!) that made it a pain to play it through, and flipping off those of us who want 100%.
