The Mako is a horrible, horrible vehicle for the tight corridor roads you usually encounter on storyline missions. Virmire is the only storyline planet where the Mako is slightly easier to handle because you drive over wide, flat beaches. The first time you use it on Feros is just satanic; I almost fell off the skybridges more than once.

On uncharted planets the vehicle first proves its value. It is quite amazing how the Mako can scale mountains that at first appear unscalable (though there are always some mountains that are too steep even for the Mako). Driving over flat surfaces is boring, driving over hills is fun (yay for the boosters), driving up a steep mountain hill can be annoying but also challenging (boo for the boosters).

The Mako is a vehicle you can simultaneously love and hate.

Half XP for killing things in the Mako. Which made it entirely impossible to reach even level 50 in one playthrough if you used the Mako wherever available. That's why it was kinda a pointless feature anyway.
heh...
Then I figured out you can get those geth Colossus's down to like 5% health, hop out, sabotage, lift, pewpew, +1000 something xp.

Never tried it with a Thresher Maw though.

For everyone that's asking, the Mako is replaced by a scanning minigame, and then a "Coordinate" is found, from which a shuttle launches from the ship and flies down. From which you then explore on foot.

Essentially killing the open world areas you could explore.
Well that sucks, because I love open-world exploration in my RPG's. It's just that the planets were so horribly done. If they just would've fixed that, it would be perfect.

And I too did not mind the Mako so much. I didn't exactly love it, but I never got it stuck (yay for thrusters). Maybe it was because I played the PC version.

As for combat with it, well I just parked it and shot things from a distance. No need to dodge anything.

Long ago, in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting master of darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil. But a foolish samurai warrior, wielding a magic sword, stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future, where my evil is law. Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku.

Oh you mean something else..

OT: I was never a fan of the thing. The one level with the lava I had a very bad habit of running a teeny tiny bit of my wheel into the lava and I would insta die and have to restart the area because I was getting pissed and was forgetting to save. I did have fun with the little jump jets on the thing though.

P.S. If someone ninjaed me, I dont care.

Its controls were way too sensitive; just tapping left would turn it 90 degrees, it was horrible.
It wasn't the controls; it was hitting the most minute of bumps at 5 miles an hour.

I'm sorry, but the physics on that thing are totally whack. It's a complete pain to use when attempting to go over mountains, and much of the time you use it, you are attempting to go over mountains.

There is a reason BioWare made this. [http://store.bioware.com/products/mass_effect/tshirt_mako.html]
It might of been the physics that were making the controls bad in my case. It just seemed like when I was trying to go over the mountains and stuff, just tapping to change course slightly would send me miles off track.

Oh and that link you gave doesn't work.

It works on the Thresher Maws as well. It's more risky though, as its pretty much impossible to get out of the way if the Maw comes from under you. You have to make sure its health is way low before getting out of the Mako.

Like many others in this thread, I originally thought that you were referring to the FFVII Mako. Once again I look the fool for not playing Mass Effect.

I would much rather steer the Mako than a goddamned Warthog anyday. Not that I hate Halo but I sure did hate driving in Halo.

So I guess you just /threaded this.

No point in further discussion.
Not at all.
To be honest, I didn't think there was a single person in the world who actually liked the Mako. Because you apparently did, I believe the thread should be open and discussed more...

What if there are... more mako fans out there? Weird.

/un-threaded
I was largely indifferent to it but I would say I enjoyed it more than not.

Now, as for that planet scanning bullshit...
