God damn, I know. Only reason I'd tour Japan is to see them. They have a huge following here on the West Coast, especially in Seattle. I can't even IMAGINE how hard I'd cream to hear "Bikini Sports Ponchin" and "TsumeTsumeTsume" live.

Oh God, seeing Nao-chan in person. I might cry.

Koi No Mega Lover was the song that got me INTO metal, believe it or not. Not ten months ago, the hardest shit I listened to was Black Sabbath and the Sword. Max made me the music man I am today. My personal favorite song by them is either Houchou Hasami Cutter Knife Dosu Kiri or Bikini Sports Ponchin' ;)
Oh they do? Wow. I wouldn't have guessed. Maybe I should move to Seattle :p

Well that's one badass band to get you into metal. They seem to put on one kickass show. I've only seen Youtube clips, but they not only sound great, but they have one hell of a performance.

Yeah, those songs are fucking awesome. Koi No Mega Lover/{F}/Chu Chu Lovely/Anaru Whiskey Ponce are my favorites.
It's mostly because Seattle has a large Japanese population, and a VERY large anime fanbase. Japanese bring their music tastes with them, and anime fans find it via Death Note. I'm actually waiting on my Buiikikaesu!! import to get here as we speak...

1. wasn't that song an opening to FMA?
2. Lol I actually know After Dark on the guitar...
3. I'm loving the instrumental but the vocals not so much...
4. I swear I've heard that song before...
5. oh yes Dir En Grey I listened to them for like a month straight once...
6. I may check them out later, I don't really want anything too heavy right now...
7. the auto tune made that song sorta trippy...
8. O_O I really wasn't expecting that to be good but I guess you really can't judge a book by it's cover... was that a boy or a girl singing? I wanna say boy but I'm not entirely sure... actually is that an all girl band? or guys? I honestly can't tell...
9. lol Jpop my mortal enemy... it's just so catchy...
10. OMG I love Rip Slyme!!!
11. There is something about the way they pick up their feet while playing that bothers me...
it reminds me of the Charleston dance style...
1. Yes, yes it was.
2. Awesome!
3. Eh, whatever. I love FACT personally.
4. You probably have. It's by the same singer of the song from FMA.
5. They're awesome, aren't they?
6. They're pretty heavy, but they're good.
7. I personally like the way they use it.
8. All boy band. No girls. They look even girlier in recent years:
9. Damn right, it's catchy!
10. Yay! Another fellow Rip Slyme lover!
11....you bastard. Don't you disgrace my beloved MtH!!

I'll always recommend Poets of the Fall. Never found a current band that I enjoy as much as them. Though I'm damn near fanboy status with those guys so don't take my word for it completely. :)

i'd say Maximum the Hormone, but to my delight I've been ninja'd many times over.

So instead I'll put forth an indie band, Eyeshine.

This, this, a thousand times this. They're so underrated, which is a shame, because they are truly amazing. If any Poet Fanboys like me come across this post...

I knew them before Alan Wake. Leave me alone.

ARCANE SCIENCE OF TEMPORAL EXPLORATION,
KNOWN TO NOONE OF HIS KIND!
IMMORTALITY THROUGH ARTIFICIAL TRANSFORMATION,
TO RULE A WORLD THAT SOON WILL DIE!!!

That whole album is not meant to be listened to at anything less than 120 dB!

-edit-

OT: If you aren't sold, go to youtube and look up Acheron and The Cronomancer I: Hubris. All three songs tell an amazing story that should really be heard together, and musically, as well as sonically, are absolutely superb.

Um...well that depends.

I know lots and lots of great Japanese bands and I can go on for hours with suggestions about Jrock bands, though my knowledge of more English oriented bands are rather limited.
I like Jrock though my knowledge is rather limited on the subject...
You like Jrock? High Five!

As did I brother, let us go spread the awesomeness that is Poets of the Fall.

Also, another band to stay OT, Weezer.

But, still ya know Poets of the Fall first.

They have a very Black Sabbath vibe, especially on Gods of the Earth. Which is totally awesome.

Thread hijack alert!

"...sounds like a mix between Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath, but instead of making an album right off the bat, they decided to roll a joint and invite J. R. R. Tolken and Arthur C. Clark over to join them in their musical adventure."

Quoting myself from a different site. They kinda wanna make me go out and buy some pot just to try it and find out if it makes the music even more awesome than it already is!

@Julianking93

Agh! Your avatar is so damn cute it HURTS! What's worse is that I am fascinated by it, while at the same time listening to metal so loud that it's destroying my hearing.

I would like to put forth two bands for your consideration.

The Decemberists. Kind of an alternative folk music is one way to describe it the majority of their songs tell a story of some sort. I live right across the columbia river from Portland, Oregon where these guys are from and one time I creepyly followed the lead singer around in Powells because I was too embarrassed to talked to him

Flogging Molly. They are much better known the The Decemberists so I will only post two videos but I've seen them four times in concert and they have always torn the roof off.
