CoB isn't Death Metal, they're Black Metal. Melodic Black Metal specifically. But as with a lot of metal bands, it's hard as fuck to define what genre or subgenre they really are.[/quote]

whats the difference

Um...well that depends.

I know lots and lots of great Japanese bands and I can go on for hours with suggestions about Jrock bands, though my knowledge of more English oriented bands are rather limited.
I need more Japanese bands actually! Please recommend me some!

Now I like to listen to music while I work on my computer but I recently lost 90% of my music because Itunes is being a real asshat. So can I get some band recommendations, I'm not very picky about music, if it sounds good I listen to it, whether it be swing or grunge or even disco. I really just want something new, so please throw some bands out there...
Here are my recommendations of bands I normally listen to:

  • In Fear and Faith
    Atreyu
    All that Remains
    Killswitch Engage
    A Perfect Circle
    Anberlin
    In Extremo
    Escala
    Samael
    Underoath

If you want more specific songs from these bands I can link them to you. Oh, and tell me when you review is up, I want to read it!

The birthday massacre. they kind of have a 'gothic alice in wonderland' vibe. you could call it new-wave revival or goth rock or synth rock. normally i'm not into any of those things, but they mix normal rock and synth together so well, its a rare joy for me.
You had me at "Gothic Alice In Wonderland". Seriously, i didnt bother reading the rest

OT: If you want Japanese Bands, then Abingdon Boys School, Girugamesh, 12012, Rentrer En Soi, Nightmare, D'espairs Ray, Oblivion Dust, and ill stop there.

If this includes any band, then
Alesana
Anberlin
Bring Me The Horizon (The Suicide Season Cut-Up album, nothing else)
A City Serene
A Day To Remember
Dead By April
FACT (Japansese, but all english lyrics)
Eyes Set To Kill
FlyLeaf
Innerpartysystem
Breathe Carolina
We Are The Fallen
We Are The Ocean

I know an AMAZING garage band called The Narrow Road, and the best song they did is one they wrote themselves:

You may not approve, but as a closing act for a garage concert, they should have been the main damn act!

Well, I know a bunch of Death Metal bands:

*SNIP*
Children of Bodom
*SNIP*

There's plenty more, but I'll leave it there.

Uh, no, they aren't. Black Metal is very underground, with low production values and simple instrumentation, growled vocals and songs about Satanic or occult themes.

Children of Bodom have screamed lyrics, and have songs about Death and hate, with very technical instrumentation, almost the definition of Melodic Death Metal, with a hint of power metal from the keyboards and some of the riffs.

Even Encyclopedia Metallum agrees.

Did you maybe get the genres mixed up? Happens to me all the time, should have seen the flames that happened when I mixed up groove and thrash metal...

Bill Withers (Lean on Me, Ain't No Sunshine)
AC DC
Gustav's Holst's Planets
Streetlight Manifesto
Semi-wide variety, there should be something to your taste.

Flogging Molly. They are much better known the The Decemberists so I will only post two videos but I've seen them four times in concert and they have always torn the roof off.
I will forever be greatful to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 for introducing me to Floggin Molly.

Anyways, I have a rather eclectic musical taste, so I'll post a couple of my favourite bands.

And a combination of the two.

Garbage... It's all metal and hard rock
Garbage isn't even close to rock, nor is it any good in the first place D:

For me, I'll recommend a few from various genres:

Crossfade
Evanescence
Puddle of Mudd
Papa Roach
Stellar* (the asterisk is part of their name)
Fat Freddy's Drop
Shelter Red
Smash Mouth
Soul Asylum

I'm tempted to put myself in there... xD
My music's on my website, it's on my profile page if you're REALLY interested.
