Scale the Summit or Animals as Leaders. The latter is basically the former on steroids. Both are instrumental prog bands, although not in the sense that they go way out there with 265 minute songs (coming from someone who likes 265 minute songs), mainly just because they like to change time signature.

Insomnium's good too, but they're melodeath, not prog. I'm a fan of melodeath in general, so you could try In Flames, Dark Tranquility, etc.

Oh, and for some jazz, try Cannonball Adderley. Very good sax player.

If you like metal,

Can't really think of many other bands right now. Listen to Vocaloid maybe?

Soil and "Pimp" Sessions
or really anything from Planet Pimp is a great start.
J.A.M (just an offshoot off of Soil and Pimp (though a lot more chilled).

The whole album Promised Land Volume 2 (It's Liquid Funk mixed by some guy called Fabio)

Country
United Kingdom
Let me scan my iTUnes and suggest some for you.
Maximum The Hormone (Suggested already but I like to reinforce that option)
Paramore
Alestorm
Aqua Timez (More J-Music)
Clutch
A Day To Remember
Genesis
In Flames
Tenacious D
Zebrahead
Weird Al
Rise Against
Panic! At The Disco
Mt Chemical Romance
We The Kings (Although I've only got two songs due to issues with deletion, they are pretty good.)

Most of those are pretty well known but eh, I like them. And all have great songs.

ARCANE SCIENCE OF TEMPORAL EXPLORATION,
KNOWN TO NOONE OF HIS KIND!
IMMORTALITY THROUGH ARTIFICIAL TRANSFORMATION,
TO RULE A WORLD THAT SOON WILL DIE!!!

That whole album is not meant to be listened to at anything less than 120 dB!

-edit-

OT: If you aren't sold, go to youtube and look up Acheron and The Cronomancer I: Hubris. All three songs tell an amazing story that should really be heard together, and musically, as well as sonically, are absolutely superb.
That's too bad, I won't bother checking it out since my City has a sound limit (60 dB during day, 50 dB hour after sunset till 7 am
So you are telling me you don't own a pair of headphones?

Daft Punk and Justice, but a recommendation for the former depends on our tolerance for repetition (especially on the album Human After All).

I recommend A Day to Remember. You can all flame me now about how I have a poor taste in music because you don't like what I like.

Try things like: Disturbed, Green Day, Sences Fail, Taking Back Sunday, Linken Park, Billy Talent, Jet, Rise Against, Hawthorne Hights, Wolf Mother, Boys Like Girls, Dragon Force, Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Living End, All Amercain Rejects older stuff and some SlipKnot.

This is some of my Favorite bands, Defently worth a listen.

If you want long, good songs to listen to in order for you to work with a back-beat uninterupted, I suggest these bands (try finding them on youtube and act accordingly);

Boris (Japanese experimental doom metal band): try songs like Statement, Naki Kyoku, or Akuma no uta

The Melvins (seattle hard-rock/ sludge metal) for twisted music videos and odd ass humor, for a song try history of Bad men

Sleep (pioneers of Stoner metal): for actual weed infused Black Sabbath, find album Holy Mountain

Electric Wizard (English Stoner metal band): if you want to hear weed-infused H.P. Lovecraft played guitar with Satan doing vocals. Arguably their best album is Dopethrone

Om (stoner metal) if you want metal mixed with tibetan chanting and christian gnosticism. try the song Flight of the Eagle

Nick Drake (singer/musician) for folky easy listening type stuff

Tool (art-house metal) not sure how to classify this one, all songs mindbending

King Crimson (progressive rock) old sixties band, try the song 21st century schizoid man

Frank Zappa (music genius) try anything the guy made, even the orchestral g-spot tornado

edit: and DJ Krush, for an actual beat, try Kemuri or road to nowhere

and if you can find it, anything by this Japanese metal band called Corrupted, just for the experience

Well, I know a bunch of Death Metal bands:

*SNIP*
Children of Bodom
*SNIP*

There's plenty more, but I'll leave it there.
CoB isn't Death Metal, they're Black Metal. Melodic Black Metal specifically. But as with a lot of metal bands, it's hard as fuck to define what genre or subgenre they really are.
