The jazz songs were okay and then Mika came (Don't mean to insult your interests it's just I'm a guy in Australia so I've been raised to hate him)

They're really good but I have a music A.D.D so unless something is quick and flashy i just can't listen to it.

Not sure what's playing on the radio these days, but I will gladly share some of my favorite alt rock albums:

Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards
Pixies - Doolittle
Dresden Dolls - Dresden Dolls
The Faint - Wet from Birth
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Peepshow

Don't forget, which would almost be "classic" now (I'm getting old). Some of my favorite too, but maybe more known. BUT I grew up with:

Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Radiohead - The Bends
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Beck - Odelay

Radiohead. You MUST listen to this brilliant Alternative/Electronic band :)

It's hard to suggest a song for them since they have many different songs from each album which different styles... so i'l suggest one from each.

The Bends: Just
OK Computer: Paranoid Android
Kid A: How To Dissapear Completely
Amnesiac: I Might Be Wrong
Hail To The Thief: There There and Sit Down Stand Up
In Rainbows: Bodysnatchers
The King of Limbs: Lotus Flower

Another group I suggest is Justice, they're brilliant.

Sorry, I couldn't resist posting some of my home country's (alternative, I think) rock music:

Old stuff.
^ I just found this song... didn't know they sang in English...

Other than that try Machinae Supremacy.

I'll add to this:
So good to listen to this song in full volume.

These guys only released one album, then broke up. Sadness.

The Exies are one of my favourite bands. Mostly because they're awesome.
