Honestly action IN a metroid game could work. There was just no reason they had to strip out the exploration and atmosphere, characterize samus so terrible (she's basically just sakamoto's wet dream now, right down to being an impossibly proportioned anime girl) and then half ass the action gameplay. It's especially annoying since the made this a main game, a canon game that takes more precedence over the Prime games which were infinitely better and more metroidy despite being in an entirely different perspective.
Okay yeah it wasn't the BEST game out there, I wouldn't even call it great just good. I think Other M was a good game, good and no better. Yeah the exploration was bare, but the atmosphere was acceptable. Characterization is a YMMV so I'm not even gonna argue about that.

Also I hated the prime games, HATED so that just shows you how much taste can factor in. I'll accept that they were not bad games, they just happened to be games I hated.
I can't even call it good. Other M just...failed on all fronts. I mean I wrote a big spergy post up there on how even if it wasn't a metroid game, other M is still terrible and that's just scratching the surface.
Such go matters of taste, I think I take it less seriously as I was never all that big on Metroid as a series. I play the games without any more standards than I take any new game that comes out.

F.E.A.R. 2

It was decent enough, but, a tad short. I had more fun with Condemned 2: Bloodshot. Maybe it's because I paid $35 dollars for it.

Most of the shit I've bought, I bought a long time ago. Now, I actually try and buy the games I know I'll like and rent all the others. The only game I can recall from my memory is a really terrible GBA game I got because I was stupid and like, 8. I will NOT discuss it further! I still regret it, so yeah. Also, recalling another shitty GBA game I regret, was like some Dragon Ball Z card-game thing. Awful awful awful. I'm glad I bought them when I wasn't spending my money, taught me my lesson early.

Also, some game that was like, Musashi: Samurai Legends or something. It was fun at first. Then got stupid.

I'm so glad I didn't pay full-price for God of War and Prototype. The former because I didn't realize it's essentially DMC with a different character, and I dislike DMC-style combat, and the latter because... just dear god, that game is so bad, it's not fun constantly losing half my health to bullshit. It would have been fun if they didn't make it so damn hard for no reason, kind of ruins the entire point of a "YOU ARE GOD" game.

Luckily I didn't pay full price for Oblivion... lol.

I wasn't satisfied with Red Faction: Guerrilla. I kinda wish I had never bought it. And while I personally didn't buy it, Final Fantasy XIII hasn't exactly been my cup of tea.

Other than that, I generally either make smart purchases, barrow games I think will be sub-par from friends, or buy them when their price has come down/used.

C&C Tiberium Wars. Worse than Generals and Red Alert 2. They made so many old mistakes in this game, it's just pathetic.

SSB Brawl. I was so hyped up for this shit just to find out it was shit game. No! It's not because I have high standards, it's because there are so many glaring flaws that I couldn't even get into it if my life depended on it.

Pokemon Pearl. Talk about rinse and repeat. I even prefer the original games to Pearl, it was so shallow.

We've all done it. We've all paid full price for a game that was complete shit. I paid full price for Fracture and Alone in the Dark. What about you?
I too have trodden down the path of Alone in the Dark. I shoulda clued in to the shittiness when I was told it came with a free T-shirt. But I was young and naive and desperately wanted a new game. Luckily I have grown wiser. I never buy a game without first watching actual gameplay footage on youtube or something.

Bioshock 2: the whole it doesn't matter what you do to the sisters your still gonna fight big sister, screwed up what little choice system their was, however the multiplayer was a lot of fun.

Alpha Protocol: I really wanted to like it but I payed full price for a maybe $20 game.

Overlord: no map=no direction

Turning Point...the back sounded cool, and I had never heard of it. When I got to play it...crashed in the first five minutes. Graphics looked five years old, half the sounds didn't play.....there were so many things wrong with that game, how the fuck did it even get released? It's like reading some thirteen year-olds Harry Potter fan fiction. It's HP fan fiction...but at least learn your bloody spelling and grammar! And Turning Point is the gaming equivalent.

Bad Company 2. Loved the game. I bought it, played it, realized my PC couldn't handle it, bought a new video card, played it, loved it, then saw it on Steam for half price two weeks later. Pissed me the fuck off.

Empire: Total War. Decent game, good after a few patches, but dammit if the game was laggy and buggy as hell for the first month and a half or so. Plus, Steam pisses me off with it's "Hey! Guess what?! That game you just got for full price?! HALF OFF NOW, ************!!!" deals. I think that it does that just to piss me off sometimes.

Alpha Protocol.

Dear SEGA,
Please just stop, stop making sonic games and stop making RPGs.
(P.S. You can keep making Valkyria Chronicles though, those are awesome.)
No No NOO...Its
Dear Sega,
Please start making Sonic games again. Not this Trash with a sonic caricature in it...

Drakengard, Aion, Hellgate London(Diablo II clone), and Fallout 3. Fallout 3 had decent scenery/atmosphere, but awful story. Drakengard is that which shall not be named(cthulu). Aion sounded cool, then turned out to be another Korean MMO, shame on me for thinking there were MMO's outside of WOW....and Hellgate would have been good if EA had just given if a chance.

I like you and your opinions on games. Lets be friends. (I also couldn't stand Brawl, or pokemon phallus edition)
We already are friends. We both are part of that minority that actually can point out obvious and stupid flaws.
