Do people really like this game so much that they will openly assault the OP for just saying he doesn't like it?
Giving proper reasons, and constructive critisizm?

I find the whole hype about this game dumb.
It was apperently better than a game with as much anticipation (DNF) But most people seem to like it. Good for them. I don't give a crap.

This whole Dues Ex craze just has "WE NEED MONEY SO HERE IS NASTALGIA" Written all over it.

I lol'd.

I also haven't had any of the problems you guys are having. The loading times are a bit ridiculous, but I've definitely seen worse. And the fact that you can't survive 16 shots to the head, as is the video game norm, is actually very refreshing to me. The patrols were a little bit predictable, but I found the gameplay to be more than just toggling invisibility to run between rooms. The voice acting wasn't bad at all, and while the animation wasn't the best, it certainly wasn't the down syndrome central that everyone is making it out to be. I thought the story was great and compelling and the open-endedness wasn't bullshit for once. And if the series ends here, so much the better.

How can we discuss something that you have been so negative about? I could say "I hate cheese" now discuss. How are people going to if the thread is so negtive to begin with and will only generate into others saying "we love it" and you coming up with why its crap. This is why i hate these threads, their is no merit to them and i really dont see the point and what you expect to get out of it. Will you magically love the game based on our opinions? No. So why bother? If you didnt like the game, fine, you are free to have that opinion but i dont see why you saw fit to write a thread about it.

No freedom? Compared to what? People love FPS games where you are fighting along corridors, they love it. But a game that gives you more freedom of movement, they ***** because its not as much freedom as they thought? Ive played this game both full violence and full stealth, and the enjoyed both...although the stealth was more interesting. I just think people played it more like a FPS, got killed in seconds and labeled the game shit as a result. Even with full augs you cant taken more than 5 bullets before your dead. You take your time, experiment, explore and gain money and xp for stuff. You get out of it what you put into it. If you rush through it, read none of the emails/newspapers and ebooks and play it like a FPS then yes, the game will suck. Could just mean this isnt the game for you and you should look else where. Same as me with the COD games, i find them boring and simplistic shooters with zero freedom. But i wouldnt write a thread about it.

Although the only negative thing i hated in the game was the bosses. You couldnt stealth them and do a takedown on them, which sucked when you played the game stealthy.

Hopefully their will be more games like this than COD. Although i will be happy if COD had massive multi tier levels in a city you had to make your way through, and you had the freedom of choice to take multi different routes. Level structure hasnt changed since Doom.....i always thought by the time computers were super powerful and we get open world games like GTA and Oblivion, that FPS war games would end up that way. Fingers crossed they will (not set in a forest area but full huge destroyed cities, like the fightening in WW2.)

I kind of agree with a lot of the OP's points, and one thing that I really wish that the game did better was the power-abuse thing that it seemed to try and convey.

For example, the melee system. I think what would've made it TONS better is if, when you use a non-lethal takedown, it's very loud and attracts attention very easily, since most of the nonlethal takedowns involve punching or judo-flipping the shit out of the victim.

On the other hand, the lethal takedowns would involve stuff like clasping a hand over the victim's mouth and then stabbing him - Very quiet and probably easier to get away with, but then you are killing human beings.

I think that's one thing that the game should've focused on - Making there be a choice between what's moral and what's easy. Abusing your power and wanton murder makes it easier, but if you choose to go nonlethal and not abuse your super duper powers, you're taking a larger risk.

At least that's what I think would've been cool.

Well, my question, would you rather play a RPG that gives you variety of combat choice or Call of Endless Repentance for the whole campaign of the RPG? The reason I'm saying this is because its NICE to get critism, but comparing it to other popular shooters that you think are better OR worse then Dues X, it would give everyone a little more insight.
Also, to criticize, you must offer ways of FIXING it, but to be honest, this is the most free game in recent memory, not only for the fact that you can actually have multiple choices to do or get somewhere, but because its fun doing it.
Replies.

If you can't spell, learn, I don't have anything else to say to you... Ok, I do, but give that a second to set in. If you are writing, anything, and misspell, you should go back and FIX it, reading a misspelled paragraph is way harder then one properly written. I know its harder then hell for me to read the OP's original post for the simple fact that its like deciphering him, and I don't want to sit there doing that.

Also, the "OPINION DEBATE" on Dues Ex HR doesn't exist, because this forum was very positive to it. People like the OP who haven't even tried to give the Devs improvements on the games performance is missing that. The game is giving you HELL tons of more freedom then any other shooter alive today. Would you rather WALK DOWN ONE FUCKING HALL THAT IS 5 MILES LONG, WHERE A OCCASIONAL SCRIPTED EVENT HAPPENS or play Dues Ex? You can hate it, but no thread should be dedicated to unless improvements are given.

OP, if you want to improve your statement to actually, I don't know, HOLD WATER, then add a section of where things could be improved and fix your spelling errors.
Basically, so I can stay relevant, compare this.

To this.

Pleasure to help with the "e"s.
Also, thanks for that. I haven't had a good argument in quite a while, that was very refreshing. Thanks.

I like how you quoted his post but completely ignored the point he was making. I understand your opinion quite well because i have read it hundreds of times. I just don't care. And you know what, my rhetoric is terrible, I acknowledged that. But my spelling isn't actually that bad. A few letters aren't capitalized when they should be, a few apostrophes aren't where they should be, and I keep changing from u to you at random. Is that really that bad? I mean one poster said it was like the bombing of Dresdan. Even though that is obvious hyperbole, I fail to see how his brain could even invite that comparison.

Your argument rests solely on the shoulders of the False Dilemma logical fallacy. There are more than 2 choices of game in the world; so saying that one is better than another does not make it the best, great, or even good. Did i mention CoD anywhere in my post? If anything i was comparing this game to other RPG's. You are one hundred percent correct; if we are comparing this game to CoD then it wins hands down. Unfortunately the world is full of MANY good games that i don't think HR holds a candle to.

Alrighty, you don't like Deus ex: Hr very much. I like Deus ex: Hr very much. AS you can see from most responses, the majority of people like Deus ex, but you and a few did not. It is a very good game, but it is not perfect like any other game, and it is not for everyone.

These "I don't like popular game X and want to make myself feel better" threads are quite annoying... just saying...

um could it be that your aim isn?t very good i have just done my second play through as a run and gunner on give me Deus Ex lvl (my first time I was doing foxiest of the hounds and pacifist) and I have really had no problems just don?t use the cover system because you cant use the sight that is all I can say.

As for the exp system the take down thing is a bit odd with the 40 for not killing and 20 for killing. But the rest is balanced my run and gunner actually has more XP than my stealth character who got ghost on every objective.

my aim is fine. No matter how good you aim is 2-3 people will gun you down almost instantly before you can kill them all. Now this is assuming you are standing. which is what im talking about.

I LOVE how everybody here has their "grammar guns" up. It's funny because Grammar Nazi's think that they're better than everyone else because they can spell (seriously, their underlying pretentious attitudes is a major reflection of Grammar Nazi's sad and boring personalities). It's really sad because the real reason people don't spell or punctuate properly is just like Knobody says, he ultimately doesn't give a shit about you, me or anybody in this forum. "But that doesn't matter, he spelled 'you' 'u'! What an asshole!" And suddenly all the Hitler's come out. How fun!

Allow me to paint this for you:

YOU and U - different appearance, same meaning.

Black, white, yellow skin - different appearance, same meaning.

Think of it this way - for every post of yours that we get "SCUM! SPELLING ERRORS OMG!!", another 198765 (hopefully this hyperbole will sink into your dense, clouded minds) people send the exact same thing.
An analogy for those who still don't get it: The most common post on Reddit.com is 'Repost' (when person A posts something for people to read, hours/days/months/ later person B posts same thing). How does it feel to be unoriginal? Either way, nobody wants to here your worthless opinion, just like you don't want to hear mine.

The mere fact that these people choose to confront you about your poor spelling, rather than the more important picture (i.e. THE OPINION-BASED DEBATE THAT IS THIS FORUM ON DEUS EX: HR)immediately makes them a bigger troll than you are, and less important than you are.

Because realistically (like how realistic Deus Ex: HR is), the internet is not formal and therefore results in informal posts.

To be fair, Grammar Nazi's are sometimes right, and the person is actually stupid. Not today! Knobody laughs at these idiots faces, and it makes them so mad that he doesn't give a shit about his spelling and he posted his stuff in minutes and it took these assholes 45 minutes to write, proof-read, re-proof-read then send it just to make sure there isn't a single punctuation mistake so that another Nazi doesn't jump on his ass. Their 'own kind', if you will. You guys either need to learn to fuck off, or accept the fact that not everybody has OCD like you.

With that said, I just wanted to relate to the actual forum topic, otherwise I would be no better than the Nazi's then, would I? Deus Ex: HR IMO, in a nutshell: Really good. Definitely not game of the year Portal 2 anyone? Graphics, great. Story, amazing. Gameplay, pretty sound, with a few hiccoughs. I guess my bigger issue is, and I'm realizing it's strange as I type it, but virtually every person in the game is a major asshole. There's like 5 people in the world who are actually good willed people. I know the tagline is trust no one, but seriously? It's insane, I can't even walk down a sewer area without some purist douche threatening to kill me the moment he sees me! And Jensen's done nothing wrong at this point! Assholes!

tl;dr Grammar Nazi's are a plague. Start the awareness now and fight the the good fight! And Deus EX:HR is okay!

I look forward to the third reich crawling up my ass because of this post. But since I don't give a shit about these guys anyway, I probably won't ever come back here. Rock on, Knobody, I don't know you, but stay cool and independent.
Okay I'm not a grammar nazi, and I completely agree with you.

But it's "nobody" not "knobody". I'm sorry, but that is just too weird. It literally made me shiver and I don't know why.

Abbreviations don't bother me, I think this forum is rubbing off on me. I need an extended holiday away from The Escapist, ironically.

How does the gorgeous 110 pound ginger cutie cuddled up next to you prevent you from growing a neck beard? Why did you feel the need to post her weight to begin with? When I was a private investigator we had a clue or a tell we would take note of when talking with suspects. When the suspect has provided too much detail when the information was not requested this is sometimes a clue that the suspect is not being entirely truthful, just an observation.

OT: I really like Deus Ex: HR, reminds me a lot of the first one.
I have a sneaking suspicion he was referring to a dog.

If you don't like it, you don't like it. Simple.
I found it fun, you don't, that is my opinion, and your opinion.
