Well really they have released three (conditionally 4) Lego Games Star Wars (with an extension which was compiled into a single game later), Lego Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman.
Plenty of series have had more installments/spinoffs than that.
Overall I think the idea is a bit cutesy, and it lost it's charm after a while, but was fun in a mindless way.
They definatly do need to work on the fundementals if they want the series to survive, and especially if they plan to get any older gamers to maintain interest.
Truthfully while I admit I was curious about Lego Batman, I haven't played any of them except Star Wars (which I traded in). I pretty much gave up on the series when they decided that they were going to remove the Swatstikas and overt signs of Nazism from the Indiana Jones franchise (or so I heard) because of the "negativity" and how "Nazis simply are not fun". Something that made me go W T F. Yes the Nazis were bad guys, that was like the entire point of the series.
