Just to keep my posts short and sweet.

I want ME3 I love the ME universe. I am really and absolutely looking forward to this game with every fiber in my being.

But I will not a. install origin on my PC and b. not install origin on my pc.

I changed my pre order to 360 for those two reasons.

Sure I will not be able to use my character I built up from ME1. But I know the story, and I am still looking forward to playing it.

I am just disappointed about the whole Origin issue....

But that is a topic for another thread.

Aside from that. I. Can. Not. Wait.

I want to kill more reapers.

Hmm should have clarified, I meant ME2's story was butchered. With all the drag the loyalty mission created, what with the stop and go, dead end arcing nature of the missions, the finale felt small and inconsequential. And are we even seeing any of ME2's characters in this game? Do you know because i honestly havent paid much attention
Ahhh, yeah I thought you were attacking ME3's story before you've even played the game. :p

As for the story in ME2, I again point to an argument I made in my "About DA 2's story" topic. ME 2's story is that of a sequel: expand the plot, develop the characters, set up the concluding 3rd chapter. Now, you can argue all you want that you think they failed at developing the characters (personally I'd disagree seeing as how nearly every mission you go on is some sort of character development in both DA 2 and ME 2). As for the finale, seeing as how you're given a massive hint as to why the Reapers do what they do (at least I saw it as a massive hint), I'd say that the finale for ME 2 was very good and did a great job at setting up the 3rd game.

As for characters from ME 2 that will be in the 2nd one. I think at least one of the Cerberus operatives (Miranda or Jacob) will be in it, possibly both. I thought I read something about Legion being spotted in some screenshots. I'm pretty certain that Mordin Solis is coming back. To be honest though, pretty much all of this is based on rumor, though I can only imagine that at least a few of the crew members from ME2 will come back. From the sound of things it's going to be a mix of the crews from ME 1 and ME 2 with a couple new faces as well.

Can someone please tell me what /THIS/ means?
Like I said in my previous post, it's supposed to put emphasis on the word. I could easily just be an internet newb and be wrong about this, but I don't think the italics code works for topic titles. If I'm wrong about this, please do feel free to call me a dumbass.
Dumbass! /jk

I don't know of you are correct or not, I had just never seen it before so was wondering if it was some new superslang.
I think *word* is considered a rule...but /word/ doesn't seem too off either...

The one thing i really hate is people bitching and moaning that the game looks too much like Gears Of War because they are only showing the gameplay dude, wheres the story...YOU STUPID MORONS WHERE BITCHING OVER ME2 CAUSE BIO SPOILED THE GAME WITH THE STORY TRAILERS! MAKE YOUR BLOODY MINDS UP!!!

Ok rant over. On topic yeah i also cant wait for the game to launch, have reserved my CE copy for the PC since October and am anxious to see just how my Shepards story will finish.
People? Making their minds up? Yeaaah...sometimes I can't even make my mind up when I *know* I'm being stupid...so good luck with that. ;-)

As for the launch...yeah, I reserved it so far back that I sometimes have to obey my urge to go back and check that it's still there at times. :-D

Let me ask a serious question. As I've mentioned before, I'm a console gamer (360, specifically) and as such have absolutely no clue what the deal with Origin is. I know that Steam is Valve's internet gaming service that has a ton of games and etc etc etc. From what I gather, Origin is similar to Steam, but since everything Valve makes is better than anything a competitor makes, Steam is better than Origin.

But what is it specifically that makes people vomit at the thought of installing Origin? Is it really that bad?

Yeah, I would say that it's probably best to relax a bit about the game if you want it to live up to your expectations...

I didn't get sucked into any Skyrim hype, and it's been a while since a game was as good for me as Skyrim was.

You sir are cool enough to be allowed into my Mass Effect 3 club. Welcome brother.

We mostly sit around, eating biscuits and waiting for the 6th (or 9th if you're unlucky like me) of March to come...
Can I get in on that? I have the N7 t-shirt and hoodie and the 6" replica of the Normandy SR-2 (Alliance colours) too. I reckon a nice Bioware hoodie would help me relax with the biscuits. :)

While I couldn't help but be a little disappointed with ME2 after playing the first one (same with Dragon Age 2 vs 1), I still look forward to ME3. So much so that I even pre-ordered the Collector's Edition (which I rarely ever buy). I like to think they may have learned from the mistakes of 2 when making part 3.
If you didnt like 2, then I would highly advise you to rethink the 3 preorder. They are inarguably going further in 2's direction
Not really.

They're offering a greater degree of skill, armor and weapon customization, to say nothing of the new weapons and skills on offer, whilst simultaneously tweaking the combat so it's faster and less clunky.

This thread here: http://social.bioware.com/forum/Mass-Effect-3/Mass-Effect-3-General-Discussion/ME3-Powers---Stats-and-Evolutions-8213000-1.html shows that there are more skills and more meaningful trade offs than ME2.

So, for example, Garrus' armor-piercing ammo power in ME2 only increased damage to armor and health, but now you can evolve it to increase weapon penetration and weaken enemy armor. This would mean that he could potentially shoot through cover/shields/other enemies whilst also providing a handy debuff.

To me RJ 17. It is simply because of trust.

I trust Valve because I have had their services for a good number of years now. No problems with them whatsoever. I have not seen any reason to look for any games from other DDSs (Digital Distribution). EA originally (no pun intended) came out with Origin with so many privacy violations in their EULA agreement that not only stained my trust in them, made me not trust them at all.

Then they go ahead and place into a policy for ME3 for PCs that digital copies (which was only available on Origin) and Retail copies (Which is why I pre-ordered so I didn't need to install Origin on my PC for) NEEDED Origin to run near the launch date. Despite the fact I went out of my way to buy a retail copy to avoid all together.

That is my personal reasons for not wanting Origin.

They can't exactly show off much of the story though without people screaming "SPOILERS!!!11!!!" and so on at them so they're promoting what they can - the combat.
They did fine on the prior games, so I'm not sure why it's suddenly so hard to do.

Ahhhhh. Yeah, that being the case I can easily see why people hate Origin so much.

I mean I'll fully admit that I really...REALLY don't like EA. Do I think they're utterly ruining Bioware? No...more like a slow, creeping corruption. You can definitely smell their stench in DA 2 and ME 2, but I like to think that the purity that Bioware once maintained still kept those titles as being enjoyable. But really I'm pretty certain that, while they are capable of poking and prodding Bioware into doing things with their games, for the most part EA is uninvolved with the actual developement process.

I agree with you.

Though I'm thinking this topic is gonna get derailed with RAEG sometime soon.
As it should be. Anytopic defending Bioware/EA games in its shenanigans deserves nothing less.
You really are an angry little man, aren't you? I assume you do this with all popular titles that come out? Or are you just still really upset that Dragon Age 2 wasn't a perfect paragon of gaming like you thought it would be, and taking it out on any and all Bioware games being released?
Multiplayer being slapped onto a series, successfully taking away from single player experience. Multiplayer looks mediocre at best, nothing innovative, probably will be dead in months. waste of time, resources and disk space

Day-one DLC's: there are a plethora of them. Crap load of shitty addons being removed from the game and sold for extra money

Origins mandatory: even for retail purchases. a buggy, spyware ridden software being forced on costumers. Funny enough pirates wont have to deal with it. Shows you who EA games really cares about

Silly design decisions like playmodes, adding jessica chobot and gears of war-rip off combat

All trailers action related, show nothing about story or narrative.

Do not tell me my complaints aren't justified. Any sane person can see they are.
So Jessica Chobot is in it that just means you don't like one of the voice actors who fucking cares. and if I remember correctly didn't all the mass effect 2 trailers give away the story so people complained about it and tbh most bioware games have excellent story so why would they need to remind us of that

I made a conscious decision to not follow this game too closely until it's release. I know most of the major details (I mean, it's pretty hard not find out when you're on a few gaming forums) but most of the story stuff passed me by.

After reading the OP, I checked the site for the voice actor reveal (I don't know why, but voice acting has become an obsession for me, every single game I read the credits and scan if I see an actor I recognise) and when Chobot was shown, I thought to myself for a second, then smiled a little and said "Oh, I recognise her. Heh, that's pretty cool."

So basically what I'm saying to everyone is "calm down, it'll be enjoyable. You know it, I know it, nothing is taken away, only stuff added."

In all honesty, the only reasons why I am buying ANYTHING with EA labeled on it is because Bioware developed the games and I love Bioware games.

I mean. I played Baldur's Gate when it came out, then I fell into a trance when NwN came out and a server dedicated to the fictional world of Daggerdale was made I stayed in there for a good 3 years meeting and making many friends in the process.

Bioware makes excellent games.

I also really want ME3. I love the ME universe, and the games have been good. I may even install Origin just to play it (I don't hate Origin, just don't want to use another Steam-like program). Either that or I'll get it on PS3.

I avoid watching most pre-release promotional materials for games/movies I anticipate, so I didn't see many of the ME3 videos. The one I've seen, though, already sent a very good signal: the music style seem to be back to the glorious synthy-sci-fi style of ME1 instead of the more generic-action-movie orchestral music of ME2 (one of the few aspects that I think got worse in 2 in relation to 1).

Yeah, this is enough to make me optimistic about it.

Why all the hate... Hrm..

Why all the hate?

Origin. Origin is all the hate.

If it was origin free, i would buy it. But no.

Either i wait for a Console release (Gasp!) or not Buy it at all.
I've heard a lot of people complaining about Origin. I know nothing about it seeing as how I'm a console gamer, so I really can't say if people are over-reacting due to it being Origin exclusive or not. This is why I don't mention the "I hate Origin" argument in my OP. :p

Edit: Best I can say is that in that case, you're not really hating against the game itself, you're hating against the system that you're forced to play it on. There were a lot of PS3 exclusive games that I've wanted to play over the years, but I didn't run out and buy a PS3 because quite simply I enjoy the XBox better. So if that's your reason not wanting to buy the game, fair enough I suppose.
I find that a apt comparison, but not really.. after all, Origin Is free But the simple fact is, is that at the end of the day, theres one reason i dont want Origin on my computer;

I have steam.

Whether or not Origin steals my details, Whether or not it acts like spyware, whether or not it doesnt work most of the time, i simply dont want to have to Manage TWO gaming services at the same time. Thats two Friend Lists, two Social networks, two game updaters and installers, two of.. everything really. I just find it redundant.

If steam didnt exist, (Or rather, i didnt use steam at all) i would be happy to use origin. But at this point in time, i already use steam, and dont need another.

Well whats the point in setting up these characters if youre going to ditch 95% of them when the game is over? Wouldnt it be better to have a sequel where the characters arent disposable?

Another point I want to make is about the jaggedness of the loyalty missions, which are 70% of the game. I mean its so forced, like a checklist. Jacob can go, "What? You didnt have time to help me sort out my daddy problems? Well fuck you", it totally breaks immersion of shephard as commander.
We don't know if all of them are returning as squad mates yet. But there was a little chart given the other day that shows the squad members and if they would be returning to Mass Effect 3 or not.
http://www.ugo.com/games/mass-effect-deaths
(it's pretty big so I won't link it into the thread)

But the thing is, there is so much we just don't really know about the game, and therefore we let speculations take hold and who really knows what might happen.

I really didn't mind the loyalty missions, despite them being a bit out of the blue. The thing about me, though, is that I'm excited about it, but my expectations are not so incredibly high to the point that they are unachievable (which is a major problem with most gamers). I'm simply just excited about being able to finish a story, which I'm sure will be a good ending to the Mass Effect Trilogy. (I'm sorta rooting for the Reapers, because otherwise we would be a combo breaker for their 50,000 year cycle.)

But on topic. I can not wait to finish this trilogy.
