Alrighty well i have been looking at this for about 4 years now, just so i dont make a dissension that i will regret in life lol but I really want my tounge split. So i was wondering if anyone here has it done or knows of a person who does it PROFESSIONALLY...not just some guy in his basement
Pfft I don't understand why everyone's making a big deal about this being a stupid idea, I think it's awesome! If I had the guts, I'd probably do it too, 'cause it just looks like fun when I see people bending their tongues around :]

But...I had never put much thought as to where it could get done, because it seems like a serious surgical procedure, especially if you still want all your taste buds to work after wards. By the looks of things, though, some tattoo's and piercing parlors do it (there are videos all over youtube, after all) probably just have to find the right one. :]
Though you probably already knew all this...

Now why on EARTH would you want your tongue split!??!

It pains me and freaks me out just to think about it!
And I can't think of a single thing it would do to help mankind in any way at all.

What the word generally means: by and large: usually; as a rule; "by and large it doesn't rain much here
If evolution has dictated that most people find it ugly then, 'by and large' it is ugly. It is not my opinion. I have expressed nothing that is an opinion, although my word choice naturally includes bias.

It impairs the body from behaving in its typical way and (especially considering the painful and dangerous nature of the procedure) this makes it a mutilation.

I will offer one opinion. I don;t think that the word modification should ever be used about a person. What word do you suggest instead of mutilation or modification?
I'l drop the bone about the ugliness, you're obviously taking it from a nature standpoint and I am from a nurture one. There's no point in arguing that I don't have the patience to attempt to.

I do not think impairs is the correct word. It does not stop you from moving your tongue, tasting, nor talking (though some people report having a slight lisp, generally only percievable to themselves, which is quickly fixed once they become accustomed to their new anatomy)Alters would be a much better term as it doesn't bring with it a negative or positive stigma.

As to the question about a name for it... well I have never considered one, I find modification completly adequate. I see it much in the same way people wear different clothes, and I haven't got a specific term for that either.

Think about how much you use your tongue, it's not like piercing an ear or your nose, this is mutilating an appendage that you use thousands of times a day and is just downright stupid.

I would recommend first targeting the tongue.

If you can't spell it, you probably shouldn't pierce it.
This is the premise I live my life by, and also the reason I don't have a bar through my testicklelz

It's pretentious and attention seeking. Get it if that's what you want to be.
I don't think pretentious means what you think it means.

Well, if that's what you think is cool go nuts. I think it's cool, but I'd never want it done to me.

I know what it means and I used it correctly. What the hell is your problem?
Eep. Apologies, I'm only familiar with the other meaning of it. I didn't realise it was also a synonym for ostentatious.

Excuse me while I go and iron my fingers.

I say go for it, I did it and I haven't looked back. It makes talking harder, but as long as you just stay posting on forums you'll be fine.

I also got my balls stapled to my inner thigh, not professional or anything because I was trying to save a bit of cash. It makes moving harder, but I really like the edgy look it gives me when I show it to the ladies.

I also got my eyelids pinned shut with a rusty paperclip. The tetanus was annoying for a bit but once the lockjaw and muscle spasms set in it made me look like a right nutjob, which is my niche.

I also got all the toes on both feet fastened together with a giant rebar. I had to give up my career as a cab driver because I kept hitting all the pedals when I put my foot down, but I crashed and killed a load of people and that's juggalotastic.

I also got my rectum prolapsed and sewn into my belly button. It makes sitting down really hard and the gangrene is *****, but it looks like I've got a smelly snake on my body.
I go back to this thread every now and then to see what people have to say to the OP, and I find this gem. You, sir, win the day.
Thanks.

Free comedy. You're welcome.

Gotta love all the judgemental people going on about how "They'll think less of you.", "It's pretentious and attention seeking. Get it if that's what you want to be." Etc. when it's something they evidentally don't understand.

Speech is not as effected as you people are implying, it can easily be restored to how it originally was, There is very little blood as well since they use a heated peice of metal. All I can say really is, if it's what you want go for it, I'd rather get my tongue split than one of those stupid little stretchers in my ear anyday.

I'd recommend looking at a website for a tattoo parlour called Modern Savage, you can see in great detail the healing process and everything else to do with having your tongue split.

Is it just me, or are you OP in disguise?

Also, thanks to the extremely funny prejudice and OP's apparent lack of intellect due to the mental age of 12 years, this is now a legendary thread.
Indeed, I must apologize for my lack of proper punctuation and spelling. I wrote the post late last night and just wanted to get the words down rather than worry that some 16 year old will find my spelling the only thing worth replying to in this thread. Oh well...

In all seriousness though, I am not OP. Just had some info I wanted to share since everyone else in this thread thinks he's an insane person, and my spelling is not excusable:(
