I woke up an hour ago, just saw this, and am now angered.

But I do agree with the one comment I would much rather see Sandra Bullock win then that wench Megan Fox (or Miley Cyrus but it probably will happen eventually sadly).
That would mean that they would have to get nominated first. I do hope they aren't THAT stupid.
I don't know I think it will happen as I have zero faith in everything and everyone. I pretty much also call the academy awards a popularity contest for the most part so the flavour of the generation will be picking up lots of hardware before they just sink into obscurity (Can't wait for that to happen).

Okay, look, even Sandra Bullock herself said in her speech "Did I really earn this or did I just wear you down?"

Don't be mad, it was her time.

Eh, best supporting actress this year had shit to select from and best actress had to go to the black woman, else they'd be called racist.
Or maybe she was just really good? Also, by that logic Lee Daniels should have won best director, Gabby sidibe should have won best actress and morgan freeman should have won best actor.
Not every good thing to be awarded to a black person is affirmative action, buddy, sometimes they just deserve it.

This really proves that the Academy is in fact a retirement home for old senile worn-out fools.

I personally am not mad she won the award, I am mad that she won the award for the film. She is a good actor, but the movie is totally undeserving.

It's doubtful. Even the Oscars have SOME standards. You have to be better than this:

Also, I thought Inglorious Basterds should have won for "Writing (Original Screenplay)" over "The Hurt Locker" for that one category.
i was hoping for "A serious man". That movie was certainly underapreciated. I always thought that the Academy loved these kind of purist drama with minimal special effects and strong acting.

No offense intended but I did not like the script for Inglorious Basterds. Some things were way to long and unnecessary. It way far from the best screenplay of the year.

BTW: avatr not winning shows that Movie Bob was right. The Academy would never honour a sci-fi movie. EVAR!!11!!

I'm more pissed to see District 9 didn't get anything.
[sub]I mean... fuck, it was better than half the movies there, Avatar included.[/sub]

And I don't personally like Bullock much, but I haven't seen her in that film, so I can't give an objective opinion.

I didn't like District 9 much...it plodded along slowly, and turned into "Military=Bad!", just like Avatar, after showing such serious political implications of aliens arriving.

It was actually "corporations = evil", not the military. Those guys were not military, they were mercenaries, private armed forces hired by the MNU (which I believe was very important to the plot).

Avatar was more of a "colonizers are evil" film, which we are all tired of watching; the novelty was having nice effects in 3D, nothing else. The story wasn't even close to District, it was predictable and silly (at least to me, of course there's no accounting for taste).

Yeah, my dad told me that this morning.

I was in disbelief but then again, who gives a shit about the Oscars?

They're hardly ever right about anything.

Sandra Bullock only won because they feel like she's due for one for some reason.

She sucks though. Nothing she's ever done has been good including the part she won for.

Apparently all you have to do for an Oscar now is talk in a redneck voice for 2 hours and help the weak minority reach the top and only she could do it because she's white.

Thanks Hollywood, you disguise your racism so well.

Sandra Bullock won...Best Actress.

The rest I'm okay with. But...Sandra Bullock. Ugh.

Also, I thought Inglorious Basterds should have won for "Writing (Original Screenplay)" over "The Hurt Locker" for that one category.
Was Basterds even nominated for that? How can a remake get a nod for "Original Screenplay"?

OT: Sandra Bullock isn't a bad actress. She just has a limited range of what she can pull off.

You only have to give one token award to stave off accusations of racism. Best actress was the easiest one, comparatively.
Well not this time, she was awesome in precious. seriously awesome. If the award had been undeserved then yeah, you may be able to trot out this bullshit argument, but it wasn't. She won on her merits, not her race.

And in most years there isn't a black winner of an oscar, not a major one anyway. Take last year, none of the major winners were black. In fact in the major categories there were only two black nominees. And the year before that only one black person was nominated and none won, yet no one cried racism. You can't pass off every black achievement as being the work of liberal guilt on the part of white folks; Precious was a very good film, Monique was very good in it and deserved her award partly because the year was otherwise lacking in outstanding performances and partly because she herself was very, very good.

Oh and FYI, she won best supporting actress not best actress.
