I woke up an hour ago, just saw this, and am now angered.

It's funny because Sandra Bullock won the golden raspberry for worst actress.
But Sandra Bullock can speak german without english accent, which is pretty cool.

I completely agree that Inglorious Basterds should have one for Original Screenplay. Not only because of how well the story was written, but because the Hurt Locker's story is taken from an actual guys life but they claim it to be fiction.
The writer for the hurt locker was a journalist in Iraq and followed a group who actually disarmed bombs. The guy who did the actual disarming of bombs is now filing a law suit against them for essentially writing this guys life into a movie, but claiming it to be original and a work of fiction. From what I've read on CNN, even the backstories of the character in the movie and the real person are very much the same... Doesn't sound like an "ORIGINAL" Screenplay to me...

I stayed up until 5am to watch the Oscars and was pissed that District 9 didn't get anything, and that A Matter of Loaf and Death didn't win animated short. I did Love NPH's dance number at the start.

That Sandra Bullock won best and worst Actress of the year just shows what a great range she has. I'd put both awards next to each other on my shelf.

Sandra Bullock won...Best Actress.

The rest I'm okay with. But...Sandra Bullock. Ugh.

Also, I thought Inglorious Basterds should have won for "Writing (Original Screenplay)" over "The Hurt Locker" for that one category.
Why?
Because she isn't that s*ut Megan Fox but infact, ACTUALLY A GOOD ACTOR?
Except Megan Fox wasn't even a nominee. She went up against Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep. You know, GOOD ACTRESSES.
hahahaha snap!

*distracted by Best Animated* Hey! The Secret of Kells was nominated! Sweet!

As for Sandra Bullock, I honestly haven't seen any of her movies. o_O Not in their entirety anyway. I tend to gravitate more toward the cartoons.

Having a fat, stupid (as evidenced by her acceptance speech) angry black woman playing a fat stupid angry black woman isn't exactly challenging.

I do like how at the end there, you pretty much just repeated what I've been saying. Female performances last year were extremely weak. Her competition was Penelope fucking cruz! It was the easiest affirmative action award they've ever had to give.

Of course, its better than giving another award the patron saint of winning multiple oscars for playing the same fucking character, denzel washington.
okay, I agree perfomances were weak this year but she didn't beat those performances because she was black, she beat them because she was better than them. In another year she probably wouldn't have won, but then neither would Bullock.

What i do take exception to is saying denzel washington plays the same character all the time. have you seen Glory or Training Day? Because you'd have to be a fucking idiot to say that those two characters were similar in the least. Although I guess you'd probably just say they were similar in that they were both black guys.

What is it you don't believe? That a black actor can be better than a white actor and that one winning an oscar is therefore incomprehensible? Because I've got to say, and I hate people who throw this word around, that's kinda racist.

On a more serious note, I'm thrilled to see Christoph Waltz win best supporting. He was easily my favorite part of that movie, which is saying tons considering how much I enjoyed some of the other aspects :)
I remember thinking when I saw IB on release weekend that Waltz would get nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Turns out I predicted correctly.

Now I really need to see Hurt Locker. *opens Netflix queue*

i think that Inglorious didnt get best writing as it was a remake of a film (a pretty good remake if you ask me)and remakes genrally get low scores.....its stupid theese days its based on audiance reception rather than actuall talent....hence why twighlight was nearky nominated

So you thought the remake of a film made in the 70's shoulda won Writing for Original Screenplay ?
Dude, it has a similar name to a film made in the 70s, it is not based on it even a little bit (unless you count the fact that they're both world war two films).
That's kinda retarded.

I am angered because Up didn't win best picture. At least it won one award, but that's not enough!

Really? I could have sworn that nobody talked about this before. Come on, now. It's even in the fucking name of the thread.

Normal spiteful nature aside, I don't see why there's so much hype over the Oscars. I'm of the opinion that whoever thinks film-making is a quantitative art that can be judged is wrong, given that art is art. For this reason, I love Quentin Tarantino, though he's still an excellent director.

I've been saying that the Oscars are the peer-reviewed journals for the film industry.

It doesn't matter what the experts say people still believe what they want; miscarages cause breast cancer, video games make people serial killers, and (insert your favourite here) should have won the Oscar.
