What if we hadn't gone through the dark ages, and lost the scientific and technological innovations that were of the period right before the onset of the Dark Ages?

Or, conversely, what if we had never come out of the dark ages?

How about what would have happened if the Dinosaurs weren't wiped out, that could be fun. You could go the realistic way of humans never existing or the fun way where we use them for travelling and have Tyrannosaurus Rex fights in the same way we do for cockrels/dogs.

Hitler won.

Simple enough.

where Hitler gets his face shot off by two Jews in a cinema.
correction
Hitler gets his face shot off by two jews in a cinema on fire.

Oh snap, ninja'd

Another option: Hitler was accepted in the Art Accademy, and became a painter instead.
Take heart: You could hardly have been ninja'd by a more dashing ninja.

Also, that seems more unlikely than him winning.
You do know he was very good at art, right?
I'm pretty jealous, he did better stuff than me! o.0

In the Ancient days, The Jewish synagogues embraced Jesus as the messiah. The people flocked to him, and he became the next Roman emperor (somehow, that's your job to figure out how). The result was a new empire of absolute peace and divine justice. It could also discuss the modern ramifications of this and how society and the world would be different today.

How would the world have evolved had the Roman Empire not collapsed until 150 years after it actually did?

Actually, I didn't.
I had no idea of his artistic ability, so I just took a wild stab in the dark and assumed it was lacking.

I mean, it usually works for me.
Last time I took a wild stab in the dark, I hit an old lady.
Score!
That's like 500 points.
Damn! I'm behind then.

Yeah, apparently he started painting when he was young, and he applied for the Vienna Art Academy(don't remember its name)and they refused him, saying he wasn't "good enough" , so he decided to get into politics.

If they knew what a mistake they made, they probably would've accepted him immediately :)

How about the atomic bomb never being invented, causing the US to invade Japan in WWII, the Cold War never to happen and nuclear weaponry not being able to advance to the world destroying potential it has today.

Hey everyone, I'm having to do a project for my world history class where I must come up with an alternate reality for any point in history. I plan on using Garry's Mod to make the video but my only problem is figuring out what point in history I should pick and how I should change it.

So my question is, what historical event would be a good choice for this project, and if you have any suggestions, how should I alter it?
Read Stephen Fry's 'Making History'. It's quite good and goes along the theme of 'Hitler won' that people are suggesting.

What would happen if the Carthaginians beat the Romans in the Mediterranean and the roman empire never existed...

This is actually a good thread, even if most the responses are predictable. I like the one about Constantine.

Screw Hitler. What if Genghis Khan had won?

What if Europeans decided that tea wasn't really worth all the trouble, and never bothered paying Columbus to try to find an alternate route to India? Italy didn't think it was worth it. What if Europe didn't discover the western hemisphere until the 1700's (hey, what's all this about Vinland, Vikings?)-and the Aztecs had a continental empire? What if the Aztecs discovered Europe?

What if the Romans like Gnosticism better than Catholicism?

What if the Black Plague never happened? What would the world population be? 9 billion? Or would we have killed each other by now?

What if the Chinese realized how useful gunpowder actually was?

What if Neanderthals won?

What if bears developed opposable digits before primates?

Either that is a Family Guy reference, or not. Can't tell.

OT: What if mammals died with the dinosaurs, and only a few types of reptiles lived?
It is.

Franz Ferdinand's Driver took the proper route.

No WWI. No Russian Revolution, No soviet Union. No WWII, No Hitler, no holocaust. No Manhattan project, No Hiroshima/Nagasaki. No space race, no moon landing. No UN.

One small event, so many ripples.

Koopas? Hot damn.

Be original and forget Hitler: What if Trotsky hadn't had a friggin' ice pick suck in his head and had become the Soviet frontman?

The ideas of religion were never devised. i.e. no roman gods, no egyptian gods, no christianity, no crusades, no religious segragation. Would make for an interesting topic
