If a blood sport became legal, would you have anything to do with it?

I love the bullfight, and have always enjoyed roman gladiator stories so a bloodsport of say prisoners fighting to the death i would find interesting, except i guess the winner would go free and if he was awesome enough to kill all the others.... that could be quite dangerous

What do you mean, if? We already have plenty of "blood sports". Ever hear of boxing? Hell, hockey? People really watch that one mostly for the fights. Even football(American). It's common for football players, even at the high-school level, to sustain life-altering injuries. It's not unheard-of for them to lose an eye, get paralyzed, or die.

I wouldn't want to watch it and I'd certainly never participate... but protesting? Probably not. I'd hate the idea of it happening, but I don't believe one man makes a difference in that sort of thing unless he has some level of power to act or ability to rally supporters, neither of which I have. Also, I'm horribly lazy and a protest march sounds like a lot of effort.

God yes, it would really put more money back in since they'd be dying a lot we wouldn't have to pay to support them in jail. =o

Yeah, watching someone die would make me feel a little off but yeah I'd watch it.

But considering that, as you said, it'd be people on death row I would feel almost no remorse.

Same. The internet has hardened me a bit, so I could take it seeing people killed on tv, even if it was real. But with swearing getting censored on tv, I dont think we could watch uncensored, real time killing anytime soon.
Really, if your watching real people fighting to the death, I don't think there is a point in censoring anything. You know what your watching, so it just makes it stupid.
Same with bleeping out swear words and not covering the person's mouth. The media is stupid. Thay do things like that.

It's in our nature to kill members of our own species for entertainment and profit?

Considering they will die anyways, I would not protest or try to stop it, I would however have nothing to do with it and probably leave "civilized" society forever.

I personally would love to watch it. I already think we should go back to hanging Pedophiles, rapists and killers, so to do it this way means there is a way to gamble on it, which is even better. Throw in some crazy fame seeking volunteers and we have ourselves a show.

We could do a three minor offense strikes and your out system aswell. If a person gets caught stealing three times, they obviously aren't going to learn, throw them in the pit.

The problem then is crime would go down, so we wouldn't be able to sustain the amount of fighters, at which point the corporation would end up framing people to get a steady stream of people, and the population would not care, as long as we had something to watch.

Hell its got to better than football (thats the normal version not the US version which I think rocks). So I would probably watch something, as long as it's fair.
I think we can't be too far away from some kind of blood sport, hell it probably already exists but just hasn't been put into the main stream yet...

Why is incentivising the murder of other people for entertainment POSSIBLY a good thing?
Games are not IRL. If you want bloodsports, keep them in games/movies.

IRL murder is not entertainment. If you are entertained by it, you demonstrate the sickest part of humanity.

You have no moral high ground on anything if you advocate a prisoner Colosseum. You have no right to decry the decay of society, the prevalence of reality TV shows, or anything of that nature. You are part of the problem.
