This is just my nitpickiness here, but the airplanes need work. I do applaud them for letting me drive passenger airliners of decent size, but there are a few things that aren't to my standards of flight physics:
1.) Afterburners- only on jet fighters do they use afterburners (with a few notable exceptions), and even then it's only when you want to go reaaaally damn fast.
Not only does every plane here use afterburners permanently, they fail to do their job of being an afterburner, so the plane is still pretty slow.
2.) Sound- Military jet engines are really really loud, incredibly loud. AND THEN you add the afterburner to that ear-shattering roar to make it sound like the sky being torn in half.
It does NOT have the calm whirr of a turbine, those are just on the civil aircraft.
it sounds like this: 3.) Weapons- good lord, these rockets are useless. Just, please, give us some guided weapons so we may engage the enemy with these planes.
4.) I see exactly what each and every aircraft is trying to be, especially the Harrier knockoff. Listen, if you go through the trouble of modeling a Harrier Jump Jet, actually make it VTOL, otherwise you are just wasting your time when you could be making something else that wasn't supposed to be vtol anyways.
5.) Use these planes, instead of mashing stuff together, go ahead and make up names, though.
- Mig-21 as standard fighter ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-21 )
- Mig-27 for ground attack ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mig-27 )
- Il-76 for the big-ass transport ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilyushin_Il-76 )
Anyways for some other stuff:
-More guns, please!
-I don't mind a terrible story as much as I mind unskippable terrible story, please allow us to skip the cutscenes
-The islands seems unpopulated, perhaps more ambient animal life or something
-As you progress in JC2, you are supposedly starting some huge revolution, with such lines as "the people are rebelling in the streets". Not a change in the attitude happens with the public in the course of the entire game. For reference on how to do this properly, see HL2.
