If our faith in humanity is lost, why don't we just blow our brains out right now?

I think its safe to assume that most people have seen/read post where someone begin's to mention their "faith in humanity" and how usually it plummets to the ground.

The question I ask is, if Humanity is complete and utter shit, why don't we "pull the plug". if not on other, faith destroying people, then at least on ourselves?

Because this is the only life we've got, and even if the world is going downhill, it's better to make the most of it.

Because we like to live? Faith in humanity and the will to live are two completely different things.

Humanity is very destructive, so not having faith in it is understandable. But wanting to keep alive is an instinct. Therefore, even though someone lacks faith in humanity, they will want to stay alive.

While I don't really take a suicide on this argument, I will say that even though we're spread all over the faith of the world, we're not the only thing it has to offer. A person might not care for his own, but there's always something else.

Because that wouldn't accomplish anything. Humanity would still be there. I refuse to kill myself unless it's in a way that brings everyone on this godforsaken planet down with me.

That's a normal thought process, right?... RIGHT??

Absolutely. And I am right here with you.

OT: Every time I start to lose my faith in people, I end up finding something that gives me hope for the world.

I think this applys more to people who say humanity is shit and deserves to die, as far as I'm concerned if they really mean that they should probably start with themselves, and if they don't they need to get off their emo pedestal and shut the hell up.

Because most people who ***** about "losing faith in humanity" are whiny kids who haven't grown up yet and are just trying to appear edgy and nihilistic . Hence they have no real conviction to their belief and so would not blow out their brains because of it.

Because if you did that you wouldn't get any fudge, and fudge is awesome. And while you are on the subject of fudge you realize that humanity cant be that bad if it invented fudge. Think about that.

This. And because what the rest of humanity does really doesn't effect what I do from day to day that dramatically.

Why have faith in humanity? Why bother when you're just fine in your own little bubble? You will never make a difference. There have profound and strong movements that have come and gone many times before you were born. Sure, they've had an effect. But after all of that- how much have things REALLY changed? So what are you gonna do as another drop in the ocean?

Faith in humanity. What does it even mean? Faith in it to do what?

I have faith in humanity. Faith that it will continue to spread and fester like disease until everything is all used up and gone without having learned anything or answering any of the big questions.

Lives are too short for us to figure all that shit out in one go and the progress is never truly passed genetically or efficiently.

I don't have faith in humanity by and large, but I don't believe others or I should die because of it. For me it is just about trust, I expect to be lied to on a daily basis and it is up to me to pick them out. That's as far as it goes. I just don't expect people to be nice, there is no real depression or whining about it, it is just how life goes.

I have plenty of faith in humanity and our capabilities. I may sound like one from time to time but I'm no misanthrope.

We can do so much with our world and have achieved so many things. Who cares if someone dies in a terrible manner? Who cares about the violations of perceived morality?

Humanity is great. We are strong, diverse, vibrant and creative.

We rock.

Well... my answer is curiosity. I really want to see where this is going in my lifetime.

And I can't say I've lost faith in humanity entirely. While some things have made me jaded, I continue to find other things that lift my spirits even higher than they were before.

Because I haven't lost faith in myself, and my ability to improve those around me?
