They should completely do away with the XMB and make the PS3 start up to playstation home. I just went there today for the second time since I had the PS3 and its amazing now. Before (like a year and a half ago) it was barren and nothing was available except pool and show lameass ads. Now I found myself with tons to do. First I entered an open theater area where they streamed the season finale of the Tester (sort of a survivor type thing but the challenges are all game related), watching it with other avatars (people) from all over the world on the virtual movie screen.
Then I headed over to the mall where things like new homes, clothes etc.. are sold and they even now have some sort of Sony news thing runing on virtual flatscreens all over the place.
Next I headed over to the gaming lounge where I met up with some interesting gamers (I met a person who made their avatar Ezio and another like Lightning from FFXIII). There's even an option of forming gaming groups and partying up with people, launching the game from inside PS Home and playing online. I joined 2 other guys and a girl and played Black Ops until just now.
Theres also a ton of minigames (free) and stores (stuff in stores not free obviously) all over the place. The biggest complaint about PSN is that people feel isolated, what better way to fix that then to make PS Home be the new XMB.
Oh yes, and for people that don't have online set up they simply will be confined in their apartment place and play their games an stuff from there.
