If/when you get a kid, will you introduce him/her to gaming?

It might take a while, as I'd probably end up 'going Kronos' and eating my children.

God no...

I don't want my child to turn out like me, wasting all his/her time on video games...

Luckily for me, i'm never having children...

Yes I would, let 'em engage their brains. I would also take them bike riding and caving. Because those are things my father did with me, and I enjoyed them immensely. Infact, if they want to be sat infront of a TV...they better have controllers in their hands.

If I adopt at some point [no point in polluting the world with new ones, who may not even like it here], I'll probably just play games and if the kid gets inquisitive, I'll hand it some child-friendly stuff like Mario or Banjo Kazooie. Hopefully we'll all be dead by then.

I'd put a football, and a bike on his left and a 360 (or equilivant depending on when this happens) connected to a 1080p HD TV and the best games out on his right and see what happens.

IT'S SCIENTIFIC!!!
For me, that would be the equivalent of picking which of my kids I like more.

I'd have to. I can't just sit in a room alone and let them wonder what I am doing all day.

Introduce? What, do I have to introduce them to film and literature too?

This isn't carpentry, people. I imagine I will have multiple game systems lying around once I have children and I also imagine games will be far less taboo once I have children. I'm sure they'll pick it up by themselves eventually. Whether or not they become a "gamer" of sorts is still to be decided.

When I have a child, I'm going to do just what my parents did with me. They can only play games if they make good grades. Nothing below a B, and if they make an A, I'll give them $1 for every A they make.

If they fall below a B on a test, no renting games until they get 2 A's. If they get a poor report card, no gaming for a month.

Only if they are beast at Cod.
My favorites.

Hell yeah, I'd introduce my kids to vidjeo gamez. I'd be all "Here, check out Resident Evil 4. This game scared the shit out of me when I was little." And they'd say "Christ, dad. You're lame. 4D gaming is where it's at."

Id let them decide what hobbies and interest they wanted to pursue.

I agree, though if I ever get kids, I'll still be playing games, and they will surely be interested in them.

Sure, they can pick up a controller whenever and play video games.
But my son/daughter will also be proficent in at least two languages, if not fluent, know about various relgioions and philosophies in the world (Especially Mommy and Daddy's), be open-minded, practice ballet and have unarmed combat training.

My children will decide what they want to do to recreate, but they will also have some responsabilities. And they will learn that working pays for liesure.

If I was playing a game and they showed intrest in it, I would show them what's it like then go from there.

Come to think of it. My children will not be able to remember their first d20, because they'll be given one so young.
Calculating Aromour Class and optimising Characters will be as second nature to them. They will be lords of the tabletop game, and be able to tell good-luck dice from bad at a glance.

...
Yeah, I'll introduce them to D&D and stuff, too.

I would wait until they were old enough to at least be able to hold the controllers, then I would introduce them to games that are pretty simple then work up from there.

I'm keeping my Gameboys, DSs, 360, Wii, and Gamecube. Teach them a bit about each one. And of course, if they pursue it as a hobby, I'd set them up with their own Steam account.

I'd do what my parents did and play video games in front of my child, in the hopes that he (or she, we need more gamer chicks) would take interest in them. I would consider it a great failure on my part if I were to invest all of that time and effort into making another person just to have them be something other than a video game nerd. I grew up collecting a lot of incredible games, and I want to share them with someone. And besides, video games are an excellent drug prevention system, because as a recent trip to Gamestop confirmed, when you're addicted to video games, you can't afford drugs.
