If you aren't, at any point were you ever a platform fanboy?

And if so, which console was it and which generation? Is there still a little bit of it inside you now?

I was a bigtime Nintendo fanboy. I saw the Xbox as the kind of console that's overly mature for the sake of it, and appealed to pre-teen boys who thought that only violent, bloody games could be cool and anyone who thought otherwise was a baby. I really had nothing against Sony, though.

I'm mostly past it.

I was, back in the 90's. But that was because SNES was, and still is, far and away better than the Genesis (I still played both, mind you). :D

Since then, not so much. Every main console since has offered some great games and gameplay. Well, except the Wii, that is.

I read this as platformer fanboy...
And I thought, "Well that's an easy answer":

But platform fanboy? Never. I don't remember any console wars growing up (excluding the companies themselves. But "Sega does what Nintendon't?" Ooooh, burrnn...). We just had fun playing whatever console our friends had and never criticized each other for their preference.

And I joined this console generation at 19 or 20 years old. It would be truly pathetic of me if I had participated in fanboy flame wars at that age or older.

My childhood was marked by the Sly Cooper games, and so E3 was incredible this year!:D
And of course there were others like Ty The Tasmanian Tiger, the earlier Ratchet and Clank titles were also very platform-y (less so today). It was before I did RTS, TBS, FPS, MMO; it was a very fondly remembered era.
God bless 3-D Mario titles too. :3

Sega. I still love my Genesis and still love my Dreamcast. And I really enjoyed my Satrun. Although I never played it as much.

I'm pretty even handed. I make it a point to have every relevant console so I don't miss anything that I'm interested in (with the exception of the 90's, when I was still a kid).

I'd say the closest I come to fanboyism is with the PS2, but mostly just because it had an excellent library (I still have around 70-80 PS2 games), not because of the company that made it.

I used to be a pretty insufferable PC elitist.

I'm still PC exclusive, but it's for not-hate-related reasons.

If course I was. I was twelve and played Flashback. If any of you younglings haven't played Flashback, you should. Right now. I'll wait.

...Oh. You mean that kind of platform. How dull. I suppose I was a PC fanboy for a pretty long time. I had a kind of snobby attitude towards consoles. Then the PS2 kind of got me slipping, and the PS3 completely won me over. Now I can't play video games without being in the comfort of my couch with a nice TV. Fuck PC gaming.

Although, the things that really make me say that - installation times, games crapping out and dying on you, the usual - seems to be really making it big on consoles, too. Don't know why I bother.

There was a time when video arcades were the best "platform."

It's a elitism with an acid test, where if you lose, you lose money.
These days, I have to settle for taking your "battle points" instead. How lame.

I use to be for Xbox but now I hate Live and all the little shits that populate it. I love my computer now.

Used to be a Playstation fanboy. We got a PS1 (Yes I call it a PS1) for Christmas, but never got a 64 for some reason. Then when we got the PS2, and saw the Xbox, we were like "What?! That's a total rip-off!" Ah good times. I don't think like that anymore, don't worry.

I don't know if it's fanboyism. But I used to often end up defending the GameCube. I still think it was an awesome platform with a large selection of worthwile titles.
