When Blizzard made WoW, both Starcraft:Broodwar(Korean e-sports scene in particular) and Warcraft 3 scenes were going strong, DotA was also starting to get very popular at the same time. So trust me when I say, Blizzard was doing good when they made WoW. That's why they afforded the huge investment to make WoW in the first place.
They had popular franchises, sure.....but were those "scenes" making Blizzard bucketloads of MONEY? That's what I meant, obviously. Popularity and fan loyalty does not pay the bills.

Spyro the Dragon, Personally... I loved the first games too, but now, seeing what became of it, it's come to a point that its continuing existence is more painful than the good times it had. Non-existance is a kinder fate than what it is.

I would burn away the franchise that is the favorite franchise of whoever is reading this post. That's right, whoever is reading this post, I don't like your favorite franchise and I insult you for liking it. Hope it riled you up something fierce.

Also I hear your mother is overweight.

There, I just summarized this whole thread.

That said, I'll be nice and try to give a legitimate answer to this thread:
I wish all the sick perverse rape games from Japan had never existed. But that's just me and my morals talking.

None. I can't really think of a game series I dislike enough to wish it had never been made, although Big Rigs was so poorly made that it barely even qualified as a game, so I suppose getting rid of that would be good.
Well, games like that are so hilariously bad, they become entertaining just to see how bad they are. Big Rigs is like the Plan 9 of games.

Jak and Daxter. I love Naughty Dog but if that franchise flopped then maybe they wouldn't be exclusive and I could afford their awesome games.

Now if the question was "what franchise should stop", I'd have a clear answer, but the question here is "what should never have been made". If I had to choose one, I'd say the Kane and Lynch series, for three reasons. 1: We'd lose one mediocre game and one of the worst games of 2010. 2: The company that made them could have worked on better projects. and 3: It's not like we're losing anything that broke the mold, or influenced something.

World of Warcraft.

Now don't get me wrong, I love Blizzard, but Wowcrack has destroyed lives.
But this was a franchise question. I loved the RTS's to much to burn all Warcraft away. If we could target one game we could get rid of wow and have a Warcraft 4, that would be boss. A franchise to burn...I would go with dead space. I like DS but the second game was only loosely based on the first. Massive retcons all around!

agreed move on and make kingdom hearts 3 already
These are mutually exclusive, without Final Fantasy there would have been no Kingdom Hearts. Also no Square Enix to make it.

I'd like to get rid of Call of Duty.
Although I do realise getting rid of one popular war-related FPS series would just allow another to rise, but it would be satisfying for a while.

Why would you? If you don't like a series, just don't play it. No need to get your panties up in a bunch about it and ruin the fun for others who do enjoy it.

As much as I loved Warcraft I and II... I'd burn away the Warcraft franchise... and I'd save lives by doing so. Also, maybe there would be some actual competition in the "Generic Fantasy World MMORPG" genre.

I see WoW, CoD, and FF are not very welcome in this world anymore. Shame really. Killing of the franchises would be very drastic. Do remember that is the very core principles of an IP and everythign that comes along with it.

Even if the modern day incarnation of Call of Duty can be a little frowned upon because of their enormous succes, I must say that I got into shooters more thanks to the very first few CoD games.

As a fan of fiction I'm amazed at the amount of detail a Warcraft wiki can provide me with. The stories are still developing as we speak, but just go check it out. The world design in writing is massive. It's a shame to see that all disappear.

As for FF, I may have never played any games, but without that franchise... the Estpolis series might have gained more popularity. and those sequels were like FF... supposedly anything but great.

Ahwell, I'll play along for shits n giggles. I wish the Beyond good and evil was never there, so I wouldn't be longing for a sequel still...

Cue the hordes of people that can't understand why some people enjoy playing games they don't. Seriously, it isn't that hard a concept to understand that different people have different tastes. I dunno, most of the people that end up commenting on these sort of threads sound like they're butthurt over Call of Duty selling more copies than the games they like. And that's just sad.
