Shin, there was a sequel: Chrono Cross. Sure it wasn't about Chrono any more, but the worlds tied into each other (after all, Schala's still there). Shame I can't find the slightest connection between the games and Chrno Crusade (aside from the name).
As for people hating a game because it spawned bad clones, that is the worst argument ever. No more internets for you. Go outside, breath real air, come back when you've realised just how retarded that is.
Let me use Halo as an example here (but it's far from the only one). Do you know where the FPS (sorry, "Doom-clone") market was headed before Halo came out? Do you remember? Quake 3 clones. Multiplayer arena games. That was it. Fuck the story, fuck the characters, for a while it was all headed down the same path as Hired Team (which actually managed to get released slightly after Halo). Now there's a game that should never have been released.
Money-grubbing companies chasing a "safe bet" are always going to copy what's popular, that's just the way it goes. Punishing the ones who actually do something different is a sure-fire way to assure that companies like EA just keep churning out the same crap every year. It's not just for games, either - look at Transmorphers and fake Rolex watches.
EDIT: Shit, forgot to put an acknowledgement that Halo was seriously over-hyped. It was.
