Trine and Portal are the same thing. There's a physics engine running in the background. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't there.Garak73 said:No, in Dragon Age theres a turn based engine running in the background. Yes, my blows in DA are in real time because no human can repeatedly smash his sword into an enemy without delay.Garak73 said:It seems to me like you are saying "that since players take turns it isn't like real time combat". It is the same thing only slowed down. In real time combat there is usually a turn based system at play under the hood. You think your blows in Dragon Age are in real time? No.
Turn based combat gives you more control by giving you more time to think and act. Even in button mashing real time combat games, there is a cool down period and that is your turn based equivalent.
In turn based combat, eg. Pokemon, Battleon, both your character and the enemy stand there like idiots taking turns to hit each other. What i'm saying is that THIS is retarded.
Turn based isn't retarded, it's the same thing you are used to, just slowed down.
Yes it is retarded. No one in their right mind will willingly stand there and let another person hit him, then trust the enemy to stand there while YOU hit him. It's pointless and there is no valid reason for it.
