If it was a minor discomfort it could be interesting, but it doesn't sound like that much fun.

I don't think so. Unless it was any good kind of pain (you know, like the sting of getting hit with a paintball).

Hmm...an interesting concept. That would cause you to be a bit more careful, but then the multiplayer community of every game would be reduced to campers, and deviants who get their kicks from watching you squirm. I would have to stick to single player.

I mean cmon... getting tea-bagged is bad enough without actually feeling the pain their testicles get lodged in your nose.

I like the idea but I'm not sure how keen I would be to play such a product, 20% of a shotgun in the face or chainsaw through the chest is still pretty fucking painful...

Nope I wouldn't, but it baffles to me as to why game developers would ever want to create this in the future anyways? I guess perhaps virtual pleasure would be good though... all those nerds will finally get to have sex with there favorite hentai character...

So... if you get hit in the head, I assume you just become pants-on-head retarded? (hopefully not dieing...)

Oh hell yes!

I always thought it would be the most awesome thing, pain bracelets around your wrists and ankles for games like street fighter, tekken, soul calibur, etc. You ask me, THAT is immersion, a physical response to something in game, and it's a hell of a motivator to play better.

If it would be like 80% less, sure. It's be like a paintball or airsoft gun.

Hell, maybe covering fore would actually work then. It doesn't work now because people will just die and respawn.

Having been shot in real life, broken real bones, burned the shit out of myself and various other intense pain-filled experiences I'll say no to this idea. Even toned down 99%, I don't want to go through any of that shit again.
Isn't this site called "the Escapist" not "the Realist"?

Well, believe it or not, force-feedback is one of the things I'm looking forward to (for several reasons, bow-chicka-bow-wow).

I think the biggest difference this would cause would be in how people play. As in, taking cover and being more careful instead of charging straight in.
This. When it really hurts, people will think more like a real soldier.

I would totally play this as long as it was non lethal! It sounds awesome!

I play my games to avoid reality. Pain would just make games even more "realistic" which isn't necessarily something I'm happy about.

So no.
