i would make an Operation Enduring Freedom game and unlike every otehr pussy developer i would use Afghanistan America the Taliban in the game! none of this "modern warfare" in some fictional-stan against race neutral terrorists as not to "offend" anyone BULLSHIT. if your going to make a based in reality "modern warfare" game, SET IT IN A REAL MODERN WAR!

best part is its not over yet leaving room for sequels!

The cold war. No fighting what so ever! BUt a gulf war game would be cool!
A Gulf War game wouldn't be that fun, to be honest, since it mostly just involves utterly destroying an opposing force which has no modern militry hardware.

A special forces FPS, but really realistic and very hard - like that SAS game that came out a while back.

I would make a FPS shooter for Viet Nam. You can play as either side. Guerilla warefare on both sides is nuts.
That would make for great online multiplayer!
on one side your armed to the teeth, and on the other you have stealth and can set up ambushes and traps.

I want VR + hybrid ancient Far Eastern/Medieval Western world - honour, melee, duals, martial arts - all in full immersion virtual reality! Would freaking rock... plus you would have the real-life version of rpg elements - your own personal mastery of your weapons and skills would improve naturally as you played the game. Plus, you would have learned them for real outside of the game, merely lacking in the potential physics-bending moments and physical strength that you would have otherwise been building up.

Are we talking a real, historical war, or something fictional? Well, I'll go with the latter because I don't think I could be bothered making a "real" war game.

Anyway, seeing that everyone likes zombies and because World War Z is good it would have to involve zombies. And nuclear weapons.

So, like a Nuclear Zombie Apocalypse, if you will. But with added Nazi Vampires, on the moon.

If I made a war game, the characters would be stick men with pistols, since I'm too lazy.

In what time would it play out? I'd like it to play out in the 16th century, playing as sweden, when they wheren't all 'neutral' and killing danish people.
I'd have to say it would be either in the near future, set as an American soldier in the Middle East somewhere, or a couple hundred years from now and be a Space Marine fighting various homicidal aliens.

For the first setting: By the end of the game, you are ordered to sneak in and plant a bomb in an enemy compound, sneak out again and get away, only to look back and watch as a mushroom cloud soars to the heavens, with the very last scene being a British news report on how the entirety of the Middle East is nothing more than a giant smoking crater.

For the second: Endgame would involve reaching the alien mothership, and destroying it, only to pull an Ender's Game, and for there to be psychic imprints of the aliens flash through your mind and you realize the only reason they attacked in the first place is because humanity destroyed their homeworld and they were the last of their species.

Id set mine in Scotland, during the war for independence. Its one of the most famous wars in Scotland and would make a great game if done properly.

Fictional WWIII during the '70s - the height of the Cold War. No stupid high tech, no stupid sattelites, just plain ol' guns and bombs. And tanks. Lots of tanks.
And OFC there would be campaigns for both sides (but the the Soviets would win at the end :)
So...similar to World in Conflict or Freedom Fighters then ? ;)

The Jacobite rebellion? Or another war with England? ;)

Not the Jacobite rebellion, but the rebellion between1296 and 1328, and then again between 1332 and 1357. Yes it was with England, as always :).

EDIT : think of Braveheart, terrible as it may be.

Ahh, Braveheart - so, an Australian will lead the Scots to mass-slaughter the English? ;) I kid, I kid.

Although sadly they did make a Braveheart 'game' - I owned it, and it was truly awful - like a clone of Total War minus all the good bits and adding in a load of problems and issues. And then draining most of the colours from the screen for some reason.
